Re: nail clipping!
We clip Suki's ourselves but honestly the concrete wears them down during her walks other than the dew claws. If he has white or clear nails you should be able to clearly see the quick (portion of the claw where the blood is located).
Make certain to clip above that and you are okay. I'd err on the side of caution the first time and maybe just clip curl at the end a a little further.
Also if he has not had this done before he may put up quite a struggle. We took care to handle Suki's paws when she was a pup and she still isn't happy when we do this. What we end up doing is waiting for her to be asleep and getting one at a time over a couple of days.

Re: nail clipping!
Logan's nails are very short from just walking on concrete. But I go to the vets to get his dew claws clipped as I would be afraid of doing it wrong.

Vinnies claws are also very short from walking on pavements, but His dew claws I have nipped the tips now and again with a proper clippers. But I dont think I would be doing all his nails as its a bit of a risk to go to far down.

Re: nail clipping!
We get Rockys done at a local dog training centre that has a grooming parlour attached to it. They only charge us £4.00 to get this done. If you feel you couldn't do it yourself it may be worth just making a few calls around to get a good price.

Re: nail clipping!
You vet can do it too Jay if it's any handier for you. Mine does Logan's for £7.

Re: nail clipping!
Never had to do them but its quite simple if you do, also ask your vets if a nurse would do them for free, as long as you have a good relationship with them
