Amazing Paw Pads
I find it amazing that Ella can walk on snow, ice, gravel, soil, concrete, tarmac, stones, pebbles, through bramble bushes and all kinds of surfaces and she does not bat an eyelid, in fact you would think that she had no feeling at all in her pads, Yet when she is on the couch having a nap and i feel a bit mischievous, i can touch her pad ever so gently, give her a little tickle and it drives her bonkers

I know this one the mischievous little tickle because they are laid across you like a sack of taties in the middle of the night so you must have your revenge >

Haha Logan hates having his feet touched too. They really can walk in anything though.
I can't even stand the cold wooden floor in the morning

Dempsey's the same - but if you even catch the very end of his claw with your foot & there are people around he lets out the most ear piercing yelp you've ever heard!

Re: Amazing Paw Pads
dogs feet are amazing, yes im nerdy enough to have reserched it lol. I was wondering why some huskies wore boots in the iditarod a few years back.
they have a wonderfully complex mixture of fats, blood vessels and arteries to keep there paws safe and sound while also regulating body temp. the only breed specific difference seems to be the ammount of fur between the toes!

Don't worry Nathan - I'm the same!
As for temperature, they have a separate blood supply to their paws to keep them warm.

My parents dog wont let anyone near her paws but Ledger has never minded to the command 'cwtch' he turns to sit with his back paws up for wiping after a walk and when on the sofa cuddling I quite often hold/rub his paws he seems to find it calming

Same here. I wake up in the morning, go to the kitchen and I'm hopping from one foot to the next because it's like ice...meanwhile Loki is casually walking around outside having a wee and a sniff amazing.

Re: Amazing Paw Pads
Reading about pads has just brought back some memories and really made me laugh out loud... Years ago we had a cat. My sister was lay with it and was stroking her pads, or what she thought was her pads. She was infact tickling the cats bullet hole. it was priceless!

Re: Amazing Paw Pads
Staffy's don't seem to like their pads being touched. Makes nail clipping a nightmare. Roxy will walk on anything, but heaven help you if you ask her to sit on grass or concrete. She does a semi-squat. At home, ask her to sit and she goes straight to her cushion.
