Help with identifying my rescue dog. Empty Re: Help with identifying my rescue dog.

Post by Baileyboi Wed Mar 13 2013, 15:28

Hi, I am new to this site and I am hoping that somebody might be able to help me in identifying the breed of my rescue dog. My family and I have had the great honour of adding Bailey to our family. We have had him now for 13 months, he has brought so much happiness to all of our life's it would be foolish of me to try and quantify it. I was told by the rescue centre that he was a SBT x but with what they are unsure, his head defiantly looks staffy his temperament is defiantly staffy. However his build is not, some people are suggesting a Ridgeback and others a Lurcher. To help you along I will give you a brief summary of his charactor. He is amazing with all members of the family, he is happy when with one of the children or me (pack leader) He does not bark even when other dogs bark at him (I've heard him bark 3 times in 13 months he does make other noises, so there is no problem vocally). Sorry if this is only a pure breed site.
Thanks for your time. Nic & Bailey

Nobody can tell you that really, but if I had to guess, it would prob be one pour quality staff mated to another (thats not meant to sound rude by the way, so please dont take offence Wink ) .. pour examples of the breed are probably more common than the standard Wink

They are a victim of their own popularity TBH, everybody wants one, then thinks its a good idea to mate them .. and on it goes doh

What a lovely colour he is!

Hard to say what (if anything) he's crossed with - could be a yellow lab? How tall is he?

Just seeing the pics now. He looks fantastic. Very Staffy like in my opinion. There may be some cross in his blood line but it wouldn't bother me. I'd just call him a Staffy, or Staffy x if you wanted to.

It's really hard to tell . I think I would say he was 3/4 staffy but I just can't work out the rest ? I first thought a lab but I would have thought the cost wouldn't be so short. Maybe greyhound .., I think I say that for everything though lol
I think he Is a really good looking dog and is in lovely condition Smile Smile

Hmm difficult one , if I only saw the last 2 pics I would say 100% staff but in the first 2 he is a little taller than breed standard , but as others say that means nothing

Congrats on having a handsome looking very happy boy Big Grin

I would like to thank everybody for the feed back. It is just my own curiosity that I needed to satisfy. I think the main thing I can take from this is that we have a beautiful family member who contributes to all our happiness.

Post by DragonTheStaffie Thu Mar 14 2013, 00:21

Like most people said he seems more like a staffy than anything the only thing that tells me he might be a cross (or maybe his past has been crossed with something) is how tall he is and the tail seems rather wide? Don't know if anyone noticed the tail but my boys tail is thin, but all it matters is that he's part of a good family who loves him!
We've recently got a staffy cross as well from a bad home who seems to be cross a whippet, she's still very skinny we've only had her a couple of days but putting on weight!

By the way welcome to the forums your boy is beautiful!

He's a gorgeous looking chap! He does look like a cross, but he looks mainly staff to me! Not sure what he could be crossed with, I agree with someone saying Lab cross due to the leggy-ness and body shape!

Congrats on the rescue though, he's lovely Smile
