first season
Saffy has started her first season this morning. At the moment the bleeding is quite light and i'm wondering if it tends to get heavier as the season goes on? If it stays as is then I'm not too worried but any heavier and I think I may need to get her some pants.
We're also due to go away in 3 weeks time and it was going to be her first beach holiday, poor planning on my part really...was expecting her to start a bit earlier. Was so looking forward to seeing her running around on the sand, be a shame if she has to stay on the lead :-(

Re: first season
The bleeding varies from bitch to bitch. Some are light all the way through, others can get quite heavy. I'd invest in some hygiene pants just in case if it was me.
Seasons generally lasy for around 21 days with the 'receptive' period being between 10 and 15 days in. But they're all different, so keeping her on the lead around other dogs may well be the best thing.

Ok, thanks Caryll. I'll pop out and get some pants this afternoon, not sure what she'll make of them though :-)
Could she still be keen to mate at 3 weeks or is it just there could be a risk of an accident?

Re: first season
I doubt very much that she'll want to (although it's been known), but dogs could still be a nuisance.

Re: first season
Yeah I can relate to that
My nuisance didn't even notice she had started and walked her as usual this morning...thankfully with no incidents
