Hi everyone, March is here! And with it, the promise of Spring.
This month shows a bit of a change in our monthly newsletter – some of our Support Members and Moderators are taking it in turns to produce it, so you will see a different name at the end of each letter and therefore a different slant to each newsletter, which we hope you will find entertaining!
And this is not the only change that has been made! Although a lot of our members are based in the UK, we are a worldwide site, and so to make it more accessible to potential non-UK Staffy and bull-breed owners who would love to join us, the domain has been changed to http://staffy-bull-terrier.com/ .
And that’s not all! Many new and helpful pages have been added this past month by our hard-working webmaster. If you haven’t seen them already, please check out https://staffy-bull-terrier.niceboard.com/t32283-website-403-update Something here for everyone!
Well, February has gone at last – not as long as January but twice as dismal for us in the northern hemisphere; February Filldyke it used to be called, because of all the rain traditionally expected in the UK, and it usually doesn’t disappoint in this regard! We understand that those of you in Australia have been having a very mixedup sort of summer - boiling hot one day and perishing cold the next with unseasonal rain, let us hope that the weather down under sorts itself out and the second half of your summer is much more pleasant for you and your dogs.
This makes walking our dogs a very muddy affair. How do you cope with this? A lot of dog walkers seem to keep to the streets, avoiding the muddy lanes and fields for the duration – this keeps the dogs relatively clean certainly. But for those of us who doggedly (no pun intended) walk our dogs in said muddy lanes and fields, we have the problem of cleaning them up before they set paw into our house again – towels, cleaning wipes etc do their best but you need a lot! Do you wait for the mud to dry (and close the eyes to the state of the carpets) and then brush it off, or attack the dog with the watering can or a quick shower (which they don’t seem to care for, surprisingly) – dilemmas which hopefully March will dispel with its winds making the going dryer.
A big welcome is extended to our new members who have joined us recently, you will probably have found already that you have joined the very best site for Bull breeds owners and lovers. There is a great deal to read and enjoy ; for a general guide to finding your way about visit https://staffy-bull-terrier.niceboard.com/t85-list-of-tutorials. Everyone loves to hear about you and dog, and a great place to start is by introducing yourselves at https://staffy-bull-terrier.niceboard.com/f7-new-member-introductions , you will get a big welcome from our members, especially if you post a photo or two!
Speaking of photos, the more the better – we can’t get enough of looking at all your gorgeous dogs! And don’t forget, we run a monthly competition (winners go through to the 2013 pets of the year competition) , visit https://staffy-bull-terrier.niceboard.com/f57-monthly-photos-competition for more details.
Crufts is here again! For any members who have their dogs entered this year, you are wished the very best of good fortune! And do let us know how you get on. For those of us who are considering showing their dog for the first time, there is much helpful advice on our Showing pages (click on About the Staffy and there is a dropdown list of seven pages) as well as a whole section of the Forum (Staffordshire Bull Terrier Show Dog Corner) devoted to the subject where you can read other members’ posts, and post your own questions and replies. Showing our dogs is great fun; even if our beloved Fido doesn’t win, WE know we have the best dog in the world!
At the very end of this month we have Easter, which generally means we can spend more time with our dogs over the long weekend, especially if we have good weather. March is supposed to come in like a lion and out like a lamb – let’s hope the latter holds true this year. But don’t forget – Easter treats for our dogs should be restricted to the occasional hen’s egg; the raisins in our Hot Cross Buns and the chocolate in our Easter eggs do no good to our dogs at all, and can make them very ill. (See https://staffy-bull-terrier.niceboard.com/t454-dangerous-foods).
As mentioned, this is very best Staffy and bull breeds related forum you could hope to find, and we are all very proud of the site in general, the fun we have on it, and the friendliness and helpfulness of our members. All we ask is that everyone bears in mind that we have on this site worldwide members and all with ages ranging from children to Quite Old people, so please don’t use the grosser swear words, be racist or aggressive, or post anything that you wouldn’t want your beloved maiden aunt to see! Apart from this proviso, you can post on any subject that you like, from asking help or providing it, to letting off a bit of steam in the Rant’n’Rave section.
If you have any suggestions for our forum, we have a feedback section https://staffy-bull-terrier.niceboard.com/f6-feedback-suggestions; we are always looking to improve the site still further if possible, and welcome your comments.
As you know, membership to the forum is free and all contributions from Members to Administrators alike are unpaid and given for the love of dogs and our Bull breeds in particular, but there are costs entailed in the hosting of the site etc, so although not compulsory in any way, donations (however small – every penny helps) are welcomed and acknowledged with a note by your log-in name. Please look at https://staffy-bull-terrier.niceboard.com/t10485-donate-to-staffy-bull-terrier if you can help at all, and Thank You in advance!
Enjoy March with its promise of Spring (or mellow Autumn if you are in southern parts of the world) and keep enjoying our website!
Thanks for reading,
The team.
