Logan Was Near Eaten Alive! ;)
I went for my walk just there and had a great time. On the way back I met a Mum & daughter with their tiddly tiny Border Collie pup. She was merle with blue eyes and very, very tiny, but super cute!
As I got nearer I heard the Mum say, "Pull her in, Pull her in They'll fight" etc etc. This truly annoyed me as I thought, does she really think Logan is going to attack a small puppy?? Especially because he has been so well behaved lately.
I said to the woman, "Em, excuse me, this boy won't touch your pup, he is very friendly!"
To which the woman replied "Oh not him, her...She will attack him!"
I was genuinely shocked, this pup was the size of Logan's back leg! I said "You can't be serious? She's only a baby". The pup then let out a harmless little puppy growl and the woman went "SEE, SEE! She does this everytime!".
I couldn't believe she thought the little teddy bear puppy would attack a big lump like Logan, so I sat and explained how she was just a pup and needs socialised. Also to let go of the lead as the wee pup was near off her feet it was so tight. Shortly after the pup seemed happy and just wanted to play.
This is the danger of cutesy puppies for sale, as people get them without the faintest idea of how to bring them up. I'm no expert dog trainer but like...C'mon

One would love to see a modicum of common sense one day. As you say the puppy needs all the socialising she can get and not to be on such a short lead. Some people should lighten up a little.

They can be nasty enough if not brought up correctly and given a job, but not at that age. I was gobsmacked!

What a daft woman glad you told her about socialisation , hopefully she will listen otherwise it will grow up with no idea how to interact with other dogs

That's the main reason I spoke to her, I'm far from an expert on behaviour issues but when Logan was that age socialising was paramount. I suppose to a certain extent it still really is.

In her defense though she was a lovely woman who genuinely didn't know and thought her dog was viscious, and she really appreciated the advice.
I love Border Collie's maybe next time she'll let her play with Logan

Yes I had a border Collie when I was about 5 years old. My mom was always in love with Collie's they're wonderful dogs. Sorry I just thought that was hilarious. But I can also understand being unaware. I was fully unaware until I found this forum.

Re: Logan Was Near Eaten Alive! ;)
My boy has been attacked by a Border Collie twice in the last year the last time 4 weeks ago when we were only yards from our home with Harry on lead. The 'well trained' Collie was off lead and not wearing a collar. His owner still does not accept that his dog should be walked on lead in the Village. I ended up with bruises on my legs and an injured finger but my boy was ok.

Nice piece of Staffy advocacy. Always worth educating people who are likely to take advice constructively

If it's your first puppy, their playfulness can be a bit scary, you automatically think it's aggression a lot of the time. Myself included since Loki was an absolute terror with the biting this forum set my mind at rest, but I don't blame people for mistaking playing with aggression when it's their first dog. Glad you explained it to her though

Haha same here, I'd never had a puppy before Logan and I remember laying in bed on the 2nd or 3rd night of him crying thinking "I guess I'm never going to get to sleep ever again "!!

I really hope this Lovely woman will allow Logan to be a long term playmate, i wish there were owners like you near here that had a friend for Cassie to play with

Re: Logan Was Near Eaten Alive! ;)
To be honest I wish there were more dogs for Logan to play with too. Most owners here either don't like Staffords or else their dog is too nasty/un-socialised to play. It's a shame.
Logan is a great dog but I think he would really benefit from more time with dogs. I walk with my girlfriend's Stafford some weekends when we can and he absolutely loves it.
