Morris - 6 month old Staffie with Hope Rescue
Morris is a 6 month old Staffie cross and is currently on foster in Whitchurch, Shropshire.
The Morris Fact File
Dog status: Very good
Cat status: Not in foster with cats but hasn’t reacted to small furries
Child status: Very good, could be rehomed with children over 5.
House training: Good but may need some reminding
Home alone: Fine for short periods. May be suitable for full time workers
Basic training: Good but could do with a bit of fine tuning.
Morris is a loving, giving, fun, comical dog. He has so much to offer a new family and all in a pint sized staffie package. Morris originally came to us from the pound so we have no history for him but he is a young dog with so much to give. He is now living in foster care and has bloomed into a stunning dog.
Morris is dog friendly and meets dogs in and out of the home with puppy enthusiasm! He could be rehomed as the only dog or with canine company.
Morris is not in foster with cats but there are gerbils in the house and he has shown no interest so we feel he could be introduced to dog savvy cats without much trouble.
Morris loves people and has been great with all people he has met and shares his home with 2 children and has been fine with those so could be rehomed with children. We are suggesting children over 5 years old but if dog savvy younger children may be considered. Prospective owners need to remember he is a bouncy excitable boy who may knock small children over.
Morris is doing well with his training but will need to go to puppy classes as condition of rehoming. This will also help with his basic training. He can pull a little on the lead but is learning quickly. He knows sit and paw and with no distractions will recall. He loves his walks but like many staffies is a little reluctant to go out in the rain … well a lot reluctant!
Morris is almost fully housetrained, needing a little reminder sometimes. He has been fine being left for short periods of time in his foster home and may be suitable for a full time worker as long as he gets a break during the day. He has always been left with canine company though. He has shown no destructive tendancy while in foster but is crated when left and will guard high value items from the resident dog. He has been great at the vets. He hasn’t travelled much in a car and when transported to foster did suffer a little with feeling sick.
In summary Morris is an affectionate loving boy looking for an active family home who is prepared to continue his training and socialisation.
All Hope Rescue dogs are neutered, vaccinated, wormed, flea treated and microchipped prior to rehoming. A homecheck will be required, and you will need to come and meet the dog with your own dogs and family. We have a suggested minimum donation of £160. A Pre-Home Interest Form can be downloaded HERE and should be returned to dogs@hoperescue.org.uk
