1991 dangerous dog act pitbulls info please
This is something that has intrigued me for a while in a weird way........ when the act came into place, what exactly happened with the dogs. I have tried googling but I just keep getting the ACT facts that they are banned dog etc
Was it a gradual thing or what am just a little confused
Thanx

Re: 1991 dangerous dog act pitbulls info please
People who owned a 'banned' breed were given a certain amount of time to...
Report the dog to the authorities
Have a temperament test carried out on the dog
Have the dog microchipped, tattood & neutered
present proof of the above to the authorities whereupon they'd be listed on the 'exempt' register
They also had to have the dog muzzled & on a lead in all public places.

What Caryll said. My cousin's ex fiance had an exempt dog and had to do all of these things.

Well, if all the dogs that were here were neutered, and there couldn't be any imports..............

If they hadn't declared them to the authorities in the given time they would have been seized.

Yes, as long as you declared hour dog & did everything you had to do, you were allowed to keep your dog. So, really, it was natural wastage.
