First Day at Puppy Day Care
Call me strange but I have become rather addicted to my Honey and she and I have been only separated for short "shopping" intervals; for the past 6 weeks! After taking everyone's advice (thank you to those of you) I enrolled her in puppy day care.
I must admit I had to get my husband to take her as I feared she would pick up on my "energy" or feelings and therefore have an adverse reaction to the center. There are only very small dogs at this one - pocket pooches which I must admit are not to my taste. So, I was a little nervous about her going as she is still learning how to play and at times can be a wee rough.
Long story short she did really well!!! The staff love her and she receives lots of attention- Makes my life better knowing she is safe, looked after and happy!!! She has crashed out!!! Exhausted from her BIG day!!!!

I know how you feel about missing them. I work 8 hours and by the end of the day I'm looking forward to getting home to them. I get a real cuddle off both. Nice to hear your pup is enjoying day care

Well done for taking up the training classes. It's amazing how many people (OK some owners of the dreaded small dogs we all know and love as Jack Russells ) dont bother with any kind of training at all then wonder why they have such a badly behaved dog on their hands.

Re: First Day at Puppy Day Care
Glad your puppy did well.
This may sound dumb, but what exactly do they do at puppy daycare? Are they only let out for a short period of time to play? Or are they out all day?

In my area there was two to choose from the first was $65 per day- When I went to have a look the lady has aromatherapy oils that she burns and at 3.00 pm they have a story!!! Besides being expensive as much as a child to go to day care I really did not think Honey needed a story!!! She is a dog and can't read- I did have to ask what story??? Was it Spot????
The one she goes to is $25 per day. It has an inside section and outdoor section with loads of toys!! She has time outside to play with the other dogs in the morning supervised, then given a rest. Most of the dogs then sleep for a bit. Lunch as she is still on three meals a day. More play with staff interacting. then she is able to wonder form inside to outside at her free will.
I have to say today when I got her they asked me does she sleep with me??? I said no in her crate in our room. Why??? Well, we understand she is a staffy and puppy but she cries sooooooooooo much when outside with the dogs that we bring her in!!! When I got there today one of the staff was holding her in their arms!! I think a big box of chocolates is in order and I need to explain she needs to be encouraged to play with the other dogs and not become a lap dog!!!

Re: First Day at Puppy Day Care
Awww, we are still on 3 meals a day as well and thankfully my husband works 5 minutes away from home and is able to go home and feed Marley. I think eventually we'll get her on 2 meals a day but that time will come...not trying to speed up our time with her as a puppy
We start puppy socializing classes on February 2nd for 5 weeks and we are looking forward to her playing with other puppies.
