stomach gurgling and off her food
any quick ideas? do dogs get tummy bugs?
she was fine yesterday, her usual grumpy morning self, shes been left alone for a few hours today when my parents went out and had her usual run of half the house, and when my dad got back he took her for a walk where she was fine and made a good solid.
since i've been in from work, i sat with her for a bit and noticed her stomach grumbling and gurgling, expecting wind but nothing. i thought nothing of it, and after dinner added some left over rice to her food (usually goes straight for it) but three hours later its still there. took her for a quick walk down the lane, she made a small solid, got back and had a quick chew on some damp grass but didnt really eat any, and still ignoring food, and even a treat she took, then dropped and ignored, and is now loking very sorry for herself (but still up and about, not lethargic or any more clingy than usual)
i've had a route round the house, and she's not eaten anything when on her own (bathroom is off limits, cleaning products are all out of reach).
its only early doors, and my mum is home with her all tomorrow to keep an eye on her, just seeing if any other dogs have had anything similar

Re: stomach gurgling and off her food
Yep, they can get upset tummys
My Tank was off his food the other day and the mouthful he did eat came bk up within 20mins complete with what he'd eaten the day before.
I starved him for the rest of the day and he just had chicken with a bit of rice at dinner, he scoffed it down.
So, might be an idea to skip a meal, then just offer chicken n rice for the next 2 meals.
If he's been sick - starve for 24hrs, then give chicken n rice x

Poor Lola, yes it sounds like something has upset her, especially if you could her tummy growling without pressing your ear to it.
It happens sometimes with dogs - we can't always be sure what they pick up and swallow and god alone knows what they ingest when they chew at grass (which another dog may and probably has wee'd on) when out on their walk.
Immunity is built up over time - how old is Lola now?

She's 2 1/2, and the grass she eats is on our garden. She has wolfed down half a bowl of food a couple of minutes ago, I'm just keeping an eye on her now

Re: stomach gurgling and off her food
Is her belly swollen at all, or hard to the touch? If not, then just skip a meal & at the next meal give her something easily digestible like cooked potatoes or boiled/scrambled eggs.
If her belly's swollen or hard, then I'd recommend a trip to the vet to rule out bloat.

No her bellies fine. She's snoozing now, and apparently she managed to eat a fair few snowballs today, I've just been told... (Thanks dad!)

Well after eating most of her dinner her stomach seems to have settled, and she's crashed out next to me snoring like normal
