Would you be worried?
Moo has been licking her front paw a lot, for the past week its been more obvious (thought is was just another habit she would snap out of), but I had a look tonight and the claws split, a little agitated, puffy, and she screamed when I touched it, never heard her do that, so I cleaned it and it bled a little, she was hating it, pulled away and skulked off.
So should I just keep an eye or could it be infected??
She has split her dew claw on numerous occasions, just get bandaged no bother, but not a pad claw?

Re: Would you be worried?
It could get infected but should be okay if you rinse it in salt water after coming back from a walk or going outside. I'd keep an eye on it and if it looks like it's getting worse instead of better I'd go to the vet. You could also use some neosporian (a cream that helps healing and scaring not sure what your version is) to spped along the healing process

Re: Would you be worried?
You've done all the right things Janey. I'd just keep an eye on it, put antiseptic on it and see how it is tomorrow.
Good luck >< and let us know how it goes.

Re: Would you be worried?
Poor Moo isn't having much luck lately. I would do the same as already siad and just keep an eye on it t see if it heals. Like already said if it gets worse go the vets. Also wiping after a walk is a good idea if it's not too painful for her.

Re: Would you be worried?
If it's really paining her, go to the vets. If the claw is damaged close to the quick it can get inflamed & need anti-bs.
I'd give it till Monday & if it's no better, vets.
Poor Moo.

Re: Would you be worried?
She isn't licking it, then nor would I with detol on it, it doesn't hurt her to walk on, but she just won't let me look which is strange for her as she is very placid and lets me do anything. She kinda screams, a noise I've never heard and found quite shocking, but now she is wary of me also which isn't helping.
I have managed to look briefly in between the pads and there is nothing there, no redness at all. I just don't get why she won't let me willingly look, very unlike her

Re: Would you be worried?
Yes kinda of agree but I have never heard her scream. Its completely split just its now blue/purple/white. Could it be infected? Not bothering her at all just when I touch it

Re: Would you be worried?
I think I would probally head to the vet. It could potentially be infected given the discoloration and waiting will only cause a longer course of antibiodics and/or inactivity.
Resting and rinsing with salt water is also an alternative but given what you just went through I would definately err on the side of caution.

Re: Would you be worried?
Given the snowfall you have there I wouldn't think it was neccessary. Just clean it off and keep it dry inside and it should be alright in a week or so.

Re: Would you be worried?
All was fine, the claw is nothing to worry about, unless as it grows the top bit doesn't shed, then she'll need it removed, had her jabs but have the second lot in 2 weeks time. So no need to worry, got to have her on metacam but I have loads left from the arthritis. Also still had some credit so £33!
She weighs as of today 22.6 and the vets are happy, so I'm happy, pint to celebrate (any excuse )
