clipping nails!
My god Bruisers nails on hes front paws arent getting worn down enough from walks etc so we have been trying to clip them, my friend who is a breeder showed me how to do it right on her dog.
Well sofar in a week ive managed to clip just two toes! he goes MAD........he hates it, we have even resorted to waiting til he falls asleep on the sofa and then clipping............but even then we only get one as he wakes up and runs off. My partner tried to hold him while i clipped one, but he was very frightened and distressed so we called it quits.
Any ideas before we resort to a groomer?

Re: clipping nails!
Sometimes it can be something as simple as the noise of the clippers that sets them off on one. I would go back to introducing the clippers with a positive association.
So I would go right back to the start and just show him the clippers then reward him with a treat. Then onto using them in thin air and then treat Brusier. Then clip something else with them like a straw and reward. Well you get the picture. This way he will start to associate the clippers with good things. Just take your time for him to accept the clippers first before you try clipping his nails with them
Hope it works

Re: clipping nails!
as above...
wot i use to do and still do is go for runs on the paths...
like short sprints for a few mins at a time every time you go for walks and that.. just be carefull not to over do it on young paws...
i have a big long path down my park that i use to help keep nails short...

Re: clipping nails!
Logan is a bit weary of the clippers for his nails too. I managed to do his front paws last night (with loads of treats) and gonna try his back ones tonight when he's tired!

Re: clipping nails!
Have you tried filing them instead? You can get battery powered machines that are specially for doggies! I got one for Dempsey last Christmas, but he doesn't like his feet being mucked about with full stop, so we never used it.
