stupid BSL

so... even though i'm not looking to take another dog right now, i was on a train north bound at christmas. its was a nightmare, i'll tell you about that latter, BUT while on the train i met a girl who works in animal rescue is Serbia called ' Nobodys dog'. what they do is rescue dogs in impossible lives and bring them to Finland, Germany and i think France for new lives, there is also one in Spain that does the same.

She was telling me the heart breaking story of Amelie who is a dogo argentino. i would have applied to have taken her right then. I have always wanted to take a Amstaff or Dogo argentino... but... here lays my problem, neither one of these breeds can be inported to Australia, they are both banned breeds. The life these dogs lead.... its.. its really horrible. The shelter is concidered HIGH ranking good quality there and here in finland, it would be condemed so i hate to think what the lower ranking ones would be like there. people just dont care about dogs there apparently. The girl herself had three dogs with her, two rescues from that same place... GAH some times it really fires me up just thinking who horrible and senseless people can be.
she is so beautiful and wonderful natured and good with other dogs. one blue eye one brown... how could anyone throw her away? but than again... i think that about all dogs that nobody wants. maybe one day... romeo will have an adopted sister, and older sister, he needs some one to put him in his place

If i was sure i was going to live in finland for the next 20 years... I'd take a Amstaff rescue or this beautiful girl.... but i dont know if i'm staying or going most years... still... makes me so sad

Amelia is so beautiful, what a sweet angel. BSL is such an unjust law. We all know no dog is born a killer and that it's humans that make dogs behave badly. It's proven that bsl has not reduced the number of people and kids being bitten by dogs. It's about time this law was repealed.. I so hope Amelia has found her forever home

looks like a real softie some people are cruel to animals i dont know why they would want to be and find it very hard to understand. Hopefully they will find good homes for them

It's terrible reading about those poor dogs, sadly we live a nonsensical world where BSL is still in place

I hope one day it will end and the people that are in charge will see sense.

i just think like in states in the USA and in england where these poor things just give put down for now fault of their own when there are loving familys who would take them, like how i would take that beautiful girl if it wasnt against the law of my home country.

Amstaffs are not a banned breed here at the moment. But the practice of breeding pitbulls and microchipping/selling them listed as amstaff is not unheard of so I don't know how long it will be before that changes.
Not up on the importing side but perhaps getting one is something to look forward to when you move here

Dogo de Argentino are beautiful loving dogs. BSL is monstrous.

might not be for.. ahh many many years till that, but dogos are still banned not here in finland though

Dogo are banned from being imported here as are APBTs but we have no actual banned breeds in Oz.. There is no breed that you cannot own here as long as abide the BSLs, and some of them are ludicrous But I have heard from an APBT owner that they are improving. She just had the restrictions lifted from her boy, he is now the only APBT allowed in the offleash park in our area and no longer needs to be caged if she is in 20 mtres away, he is now allowed run of his yard unless she leaves the house. Apparently if you own a "dangerous breed" here you can now fill out a crapload of paperwork and take your dogs to be temperament tested and if they pass they lift restrictions.

You need to come back to Oz and rescue here There are plenty tht need a good home

She looks so sweet, I hate the thought of it only being red tape which stops these beautiful dogs having loving caring homes. After all its not their faults...

i know... when i one day come back to OZ i'll probally empty the RSPCA in SA of all their staffs
