Going from 3 meals a day to 2....
So it's time for Percy's meals to be cut down to twice a day, he's just over 6 months now. (my baby is growing up )
At the moment he gets fed at 7.30am, 1pm, and 6pm
Do I just gradually reduce the size of the 1pm meal till it doesn't exist? Adding the extra to the other 2 meals? And if so how long shall I do this over? A week etc?
And how do they react to not having that meal anymore? I understand Percy won't need anymore food as it will have been split between morning and evening, but I guess it's habit and routine as well to be given a meal at 1pm?
Do they quickly forget to look for that lunchtime meal?
Hope everyone is well, sorry for not posting for a while, life's been a bit hectic recently

Reduce the 1pm meal over about 14 days & he won't miss it at all! If he gets a bit restless mid day, then just do a bit of training with some treats & he'll be fine!
They grow up so fast.

When I used to feed Zeus three times a day, it'd be 8am, 2pm, 8pm. When he got to the point of going to 2 meals a day, we slowly start spreading the 2pm feed into his 8am and 8pm feeds over a period of about 10 days.
I'd put an extra 10grams in his 8am feed, 10 grams in his 8pm feed, slowly increasing each feed by 10grams until the 2pm feed became obsolete.
He didn't really react to the change, its as if he didn't know any different. We did however, give him a few treats with training around 2pm as Caryll suggested for a week or so.
