hi, we ave an 8mth old staffiex he is really loving and playful likes to learn things but recently he has started to get aggressive and bitey even in play any idea how to channel this problem , we have tried distraction but that hasnt worked , weve tried isolating him but that only works for 5 mins after he gets back in any ideas would be helpful

Is it really aggression or is he just playing? Staffs can sound very aggressive when they are playing but there is no malice in it, so you scolding him may be very confusing for him.

Please explain in more detail what is happening, is he being possessive and biting when you try to get the toy away from him, is he mouthing you when you have the toy but brings it back to you?

I'd say that it's unlikely to be aggression - more likely to be over-enthusiastic play! Add to that he's becoming a teenager (Knows everything, listens to nothing & nobody understands him - apologies to any teenagers out there!) and you have chaos!

Go back to basics with a firm "No" when he nips etc and turn away - ignore him completely. As long as everybody does the same thing, he should learn quite quickly.

Agree it's most likely play and not aggression at that age. Here is a link that will help. Make sure everyone that interacts with the dog follows the same rules everytime and he will learn.
