Aggression
My 3 yr old staffie male gets aggressive towards visitors when they first enter my house and then when they go to leave is there any reason for this and any help in stopping it.

Re: Aggression
I'd say he just doesn't like strangers on his property, and when they leave he wants it on his terms.
One way of stopping it is to make sure that your friends all have treats handy. When they arrive, put your dog on a lead & let your guests sit down. Tell them not to look at him or talk to him, just totally ignore him. Get him to sit with you until he's calm. Then ask one of the guests to hold out a treat (still don't look at him) and allow your dog to approach. Repeat with everybody, as many times as it takes to get him settled & happy with visitors.
When they go, again clip his lead on & keep him by your side (with treats again if necessary).
He'll soon get the hang of it & look forward to people coming!

Hi and welcome to the forum.
Could you please tell us a bit more about this aggression? What does he actually do when people visit? What is his body language, is he making any noise etc?

Re: Aggression
Hi and welcome
I agree with what's been said so far, but just to add I also think it's worth reviewing everything else so that he knows his position within the pack. It sounds harsh (to me anyway), but my gal is so much happier since I keep this on check.
Is he the first to "greet" visitors? At times I do still use the dog gate or lead for those times of over excitment
Also whether this has always been the case or is it something that's just started. If it is new, has anything changed?

His behaviour is sometimes towards my son & daughter when they come to visit, they have their own key to get into the house so he is always the first to see them. They both lived at home with myself & murphy so dont understand why he gets andry with them, growling and grabbing hold of their trousers?????

It could be that he get's over excited when potential new play mates come round and it's his way of trying to initiate play. If you know guests are coming round try giving him a long(45 minute+)walk before they arrive, he'll be less likely to be as energetic when he's tired

Tbh, that sounds more like excitement than aggression. I'd still try the on lead intros, though.
