Trip to the vets?
After charging around a field today after her boomer ball and crashing into some brambles, then forcing her way out, as well as head butting the boomer ball, Molly seems to be having some trouble with her eye, it's pretty watery and she doesn't really want to keep it open.
She's trying to sleep but seems as if she just can't get comfy, every little noise she's running off to see what it is, she won't stay in her bed, she won't lay on the floor, she did settle on my lap on the sofa but then got disturbed by a noise so then ended up refusing to go back to sleep.
We're not really sure whether to take her to the vets, with the main problem being her eyes I'm pretty concerned, we've been debating whether to wait until tomorrow or not. Opinions please?
Just an additional bit - she will open it a little, but shuts it again pretty quickly.

Eyes are very delicate and are a much needed part of the body if you are concerned about her I would take her to the vet better safe than sorry and gives you piece of mind as well. Hope its nothing to serious maybe just something stuck in there let us know how she gets on.

I just gave the vets a ring, and they said we should take her in, got an apt booked for 4.40 this evening, hopefully it's nothing serious.

Re: Trip to the vets?
Yeah i agree with the above. Vets for eyes. If it is something in there they can get it out. And for your peace of mind too!
Let us know how Molly gets on.

Re: Trip to the vets?
I've tried washing it out, I've had a good look in it, she's usually really good with her eyes, I often have to get sand out of them, but today she's really flinchy and just doesn't want us to touch it.
My first thought was eyelashes, but the fact she forced herself out of a bramble bush has me a bit worried.

Re: Trip to the vets?
Thanks, we're gonna head off at 3.50 last time we had to drive up that way the traffic was horrendous.
Hopefully it'll be something simple, and cheap, bad time to had no work I think!

Re: Trip to the vets?
Good luck, probably too late to suggest now but when I go to the vets I always ask to see a nurse, as they are way cheaper, if they charge at all (I might have been lucky on that) , and then if they feel it needs a vet then they will say. Hope Molly's ok and the drive isn't too hurrendous

Re: Trip to the vets?
If her eye sight is inpaired she may be feeling vulnerable so she is alarmed by every noise and movement and wont settle confortably anywhere she may of scratch her eye ball so a trip to the vets would be advised.

Well Molly has a small puncture mark in her cornea, or a superficial corneal ulcer, which was probably caused by a thorn. So she now has some eye cream that she has to have 2-3 times a day, which is fun. But it should be gone in about 5-7 days apparently.

Re: Trip to the vets?
Cheers guys. We've already put the cream in once, it wasn't fun, I'm only going to do it twice a day, no need to stress her out more than necessary.

Re: Trip to the vets?
She's fast asleep at the moment, the first rest she's really had all day.
Seen as she's not up for charging around fields, we're going to take her in simple walks for the next week or so, and work on her "heel" command.
We got her weighed again today and she's lost a fair bit of weight, so hopefully the increase in food and the less energetic exercise will help her level out a little.

Re: Trip to the vets?
She's currently munching on her bone, she's keeping her eye open a lot more today, she only shuts it when she looks at something bright, the vet said she'd be a bit photosensitive for a while until it heals.
I managed to get the cream in her myself this morning whilst Leaim was still in bed, she was pretty calm as well, but that's possibly because she's used to me being near her eyes after having to wipe tonnes of sand from them after our beach trips lol.
