a family trip to the vets
for those that dont know romeo got his one year health check. they check his hips, elbows, knees and eyes for any problems. ALL his brothers and sisters got done at the same time to make sure their mother and father produced a healthy litter and to see if their mother should ever be breed from again.
anyway, some pics from the ordeal.
the anesthesia just got injected, he was spacing out a bit and then laid down quietly. his brothe loiri fought with it till the bitter end.
really starting to feel the effects
pretty knocked out
all the boys after their x-rays
poor romeo
thats everyone, but Lilija since her owners had to leave
my handsome little man
now he is home all wrapped up in blankets on his floor pillow. he howlled for a while when we got back so i cuddled with him for 3 hours until i needed to take a shower. now that he is more awake he is less fussed... still hasnt moved from his bed yet. i hope he's better in the morning

all people who wish to breed their staffs must have it done or people just wont breed with you. i dont think its the law, but its highly frowned upon if you dont do it and wish to show or breed. the whole little got done to see if mum had made good babies and also to see if any of them ever got breed from if they would make babies. it also helps plan for the future, you know if your dog has bad joints to not do like agility or weight pulling, and their eyes get done too, in this case Pomo might have to lose an eye since they found a melanoma
romeo was elbows 0/0, hips B/B, eyes clear and knees clear couldnt ask for better

Re: a family trip to the vets
i think most respectable breeders have their dogs and litters checked, you dont want to pass on bad genes.
Romeo can blink now... which is a huge improvment. he did get up and wander around the room but flopped down after about 3mins so i have to guide him back to bed which is where he has stayed

they sent me all his photos, of all his legs and spine. Just incase something ever happens to him that we will have these x-rays to refer to.

Re: a family trip to the vets
Must say the Xray is one for the galleries , seen 1 or 2 ultrasounds but never a real hip pic . Everyone is right seems like a fantastic idea over there and one we should adopt , it must cost the breeder a fortune

Re: a family trip to the vets
250€ per dog, but its the choice the breeder makes when they have puppies.
I actually have his spine and front legs too
