We decided to get in a behavioural specialist for Silva. It prob sounds pretty extreme to most on this forum seeing he is still so young, but honestly it is amazing what these guys (the good ones) can do in such short time. Not that Silva was a bad pup. He is just extremely stubborn and from being really spoilt his first few weeks, he has developed a strong dislike to discipline or any sort of control (especially from my wife).
After 2 hours with the specialist Silva was a different dog. Even hours after the specialist had left silva was still following commands given by my wife. The only interaction normaly between the 2 would be him biting her and as they say 'sh*t flows down hill' and i'm usually at the bottom, so you can imagine where her frustration goes.lol

I was just amazed. I know that there is alot of excellent help on this forum ( it had helped me so far), but i would highly recommend if you are having discipline problems to try a specialist. Having someone there to correct both the dog and YOURSELF is what really makes the difference.

I am sorry that was such a long post and doesnt really leave much to comment on. I just thought i would share my experience cause i'm sure there is other puppy owners on here that have read everything and tried everything but uncertain if they are willing to take the step into professional help.

Thanks for reading

Sometimes it just comes down to finding the right person (behaviourist). A lot of it is the owner learning as much as the dog, knowing to watch for and reading the body language, then remembering it all Laughing

Glad you found that right person, well done.

Well yeah, if you need a bit of extra help or someone who can tell you what you're doing wrong (if anything) then it'll help the process go smoother, I'm sure. Glad it went well and hope it continues Big Grin

as we found out it wasnt so much our pups problems but ours. We had all the right ideas just not using them correctly.
I do have to agree with alot of the comments that finding the right behavourilist is the key. I wish i could recommend him on here but it would be a very expensive visit for him to fly from Australia.lol

Good luck.
