Moo's progress - Page 6 Empty Moo's progress

Post by janey Thu Nov 08 2012, 22:46

First topic message reminder :

This is more for me and anyone that wants to give me positive vibes, I know I could do with it.

So the back ground for those who don't know, Moo has had a limp for a month now, been to the vets twice, apart from x-rays I am at my last point of call, a different course of anti-inflams for 14 days and total rest.

Day 2; stopped indoors all day, great day off, limp has been obvious in the house. Have put her very old bed on the floor (been under my bed for last 2 years) so she doesn't keep hoping up and down on mine.

Small incident of her running into the door (glass), she saw a cat, and she has a lot of energy to get rid of. Never has she done this before!

Just taken her out for a toilets, we don't have a garden so its a 2min walk, no limp visible.

She has now gone to bed, hers on the floor bless her.

Fingers crossed and positive vibes for tomorrowXx

Day 17;

Slightly better today, kinda wish it wasn't. Would prefer a full on limp to one that comes and goes. Frustrating Xx

Ah Janey, this is progress. I know you are feeling frustrated, but compare and contrast:-

a) slightly better each day, sometime limps, sometimes doesn't.
b) Bad limp all the time.

It's A surely? She's getting better every day!

Stick with it - you are strong and doing all the right things. Moo will get there! >Big Grin<

Oh Janey you KNOW what to do - stick with it, hard though I'm sure it is. You're doing great - Moo is showing progress!

If you've ever had a muscle or tendon tear you will know how long they take to heal. And we are humans and understand the situation. Moo doesn't and so the responsibilty rests on you, hard as it is, to restrict her movements whilst the problem heals. then gentle exercise, building up to full mobility.

Whe is your next vet check?

I took her out at lunch and it was much better. Still there but not visible unless you knew.

Home from work and fine in the house, yet to take her out again as its raining. I really am at a loss on what to do.

How is Moo today. Just wanted to let you know, that my Pixee is booked in tomorrow for X rays cos of the pain over the weekend to rule out any breaks, chips in the bone, and possibly to see if her mico chip has moved. Like you I have been pulling my hair out, as I could go days with no limp just a slight one cos you knew about it. Fingers cross Moo is well today >Big Grin<

Day 19;

Thank you Lynne, funnily enough I've Moo booked in for xrays tomorrow.

Her limp was worse again this morning, but once again at lunch, and now being home its fine again not visible at all! I just don't know what to do! I wish she would show some pain or at least be consistent with the lameness!

I hope all goes well for you guys tomorrow >Big Grin<

Day 20;

Just left my baby at the vets, god it breaks your heart every time, now I can't stop crying, again.

She wasn't limping this morning so I nearly cancelled but I chatted with the vet and she was quite happy to leave it another week but we both agreed that the chances are it will come back again, so its for the best. Doesn't make it any easier though.

Sad day.

Janey, this is said in the most kindly way. You must step back and allow Moo to deal with this at her own pace, she could possibly be picking up on your being overwrought and this could be worrying her more than you think.

Just had a call from the vets, they have had an emergency in so she hasn't had the xrays, I had the choice of her having them done later but that would mean they keep her in overnight to recover or to take her back in tomorrow morning.

So yes I am off to pick her up in a bit.

OCD is really the only thing it may show up but they don't think it is as it wouldn't come and go like it does, otherwise maybe a foreign body or chip of bone floating about. We will see tomorrow Xx

She has arthritis in all her 6 front joints, shoulder, elbows and feet.

Its not severe, so no need for replacements but it is something she will have for the rest of her life and I will have to manage it.

She has started on Cartrophen injections today, 1 every 7 days for 4 weeks then as and when needed. I have been referred to another clinic which has a hydrotherapy pool and will start on these asap.

It is manageable and the vet wants me to get her back to her normal self and exersize in the next couple of weeks, she has to loose the weight she has put on as excess weight is really bad for arthritis.

They think she is older than I suspect hence the onset and I don't know her history.

So thats it really. She was very distressed when I picked her up, and is crashed out.

Not much else I can say, but a huge thank you for all your support. This isn't going to effect her quality of life its something we will learn to live with.
