Trimming dogs tail
Hi all
Ok I've been reading a few books about staffies and showing them . In the books they mention that some ppl trim they're dogs tails for shows to make them look more like the standard says. So I said I give it ago. I started with little trim of the under side well I got abit carried away after that when well . I say I take abit off the sides but it looked odd so I did the hole tail . But now I have a dog with lovely red coat on most of her body and a slightly cream colour tail lol
My question is will it take long for the hair to grow back to normal as I've her in a show in 4 weeks

Re: Trimming dogs tail
It could take a few weeks to completely regrow, but it might look ok in time for the show.
Get an experienced shower to show you how to do it. It took me several goes to get it right!

Re: Trimming dogs tail
I used to trim the underside (not too close to the anus or the cut hair will irritate the anal skin), the sides & make sure the tip was nice & rounded without any hair twist at the end. I never trimmed the top although I knew people who did.
