skin rash on chest
Hi all,
My 6month old boy has recently developed a skin rash. He is addicted to commando crawling on my back lawn and having a good scratch at it to the point where he is starting to break the skin. It is all over his chest and obviously very itchy for him.
I am in the process of changing his diet a little bit to see if that helps. I normally give him weet-bix or rolled oats with natural yoghurt for breakfast and im wondering if the wheat might be causing a reaction?
I have been using this stuff for two days now with little improvement.

Im sure its not fleas as im giving him a worming and flea all-rounder tablet every 4 weeks.
Any ideas?
thanks
Alex

Re: skin rash on chest
Your using something similar to what we use when Suki gets a rash. If he is doing it everyday he is only going to make it worse and reopen any sore spot that has started to heal. Could you keep him inside until he has had a chance to recover?
Are you certain his crawling is the cause and not an allergic reaction to something in your yard?

check for Wandering Dew in the yard.. Im in NSW and when I got my dog last January.. she had this itch and baldness going on after a few months, took her too the vet and she said Mites.. turned out it was from the Wandering Dew as as soon as I got rid of it, within a few days and up to now, have never had a problem

Wandering Jew is a nasty plant! Very much an irritant. If you don't know what it looks like, check here...be warned, it has many different varieties!
http://www.google.co.uk/search?hl=en&q=wandering+jew+plant&bav=on.2,or.r_gc.r_pw.&bpcl=35466521&biw=1016&bih=588&wrapid=tlif135116166842110&um=1&ie=UTF-8&tbm=isch&source=og&sa=N&tab=wi&ei=VheJUMXpLIOGswbUqYCwDQ
It could also be a reaction to grass sap. Wipe her chest & belly with a damp cloth when she comes in & see if that helps.
It could be a food reaction - I'd take her off of anything wheat-based, as that's often a common allergen!
