Hidden Poo's!
Hi Everyone,
My partner and I have just welcomed a lovely little 11 week old pup to our family! She is so well behaved and is the perfect pup apart from one little problem, she only poo's under our sofa or bed! Wee wise she goes on her training pads but she just doesn't seem to grasp the fact she is also supposed to poo there Anyone one experienced this before? Is this a staff like thing to do? Any suggestions would be much appreciated !
Thanks guys

Re: Hidden Poo's!
Sadly didnt have this problem, Rocky was very well house trained when we got him from a rescue centre.

Re: Hidden Poo's!
Has she been told off for going in the house or had her nose rubbed in her mess before? This could explain hiding the evidence. Just be sure to take her out after sleeping, eating and playing. Leave her out until she goes and give lots of praise when she does.

Stop her from being in those areas unless you are there, baby gates or doors closed and not on the furniture for now, have you thought of maybe crate training?

Re: Hidden Poo's!
have you been taking her outside for a wee regularly and giving plenty of praise if she goes?

Re: Hidden Poo's!
Thanks for all replies. We walk her everyday and only wee's outside, it's almost as though she waits to get back in doors to poo we have told her off for the poos indoors and praise her all the time when she wee's on her pads or outside so she knows that pooing in those places is wrong. Hopefully if we just keep at it she will soon get the idea of pooing on her pads. Fingers crossed.
Again thank you

Don't tell her off for going in the house, she won't understand what she's done wrong.
Generally with house training you take the out in the garden every 30 mins to an hour, and praise anything they do in the garden. By taking them out often it lessens the chance of them going in the house as they don't need to hold it.

Don't tell her off, it doesn't help. Restrict the area she has free access too, I would personally do away with pads and take her out every 20mins and defo after sleeping eating playing. She is a pup Xx

Re: Hidden Poo's!
it's all about praising her when she does things right and not chastising her when she does things wrong. If she can go out for pees there's no reason she cant do poos outside but you must stay with her and constantly praise her . I wouldn't go for blocking the offending areas personally and concentrate on trying to catch her in the act and take her outside at the time.
Do you not have a crate for her ??

Re: Hidden Poo's!
Ok thanks guys. See I read a puppy book that says you should tell them off, but mind you I don't really agree with some of the book anyway. The best advice comes from those with real hands on experience. Yes I do have a crate for her. Also, with regards to taking her outside, I work outside and she is with me all day long and I am always keeping a watchful eye on her, ready to give her praise when she poos's but she just doesn't . She holds on until the second were back in the house. Which can be very frustrating at times as you can imagine. Lol.
Thanks for all the advice guys I really appreciate it as I'm new to all this.

She is 11 weeks, don't expect miracles! House training can take months and months, patience and lots of it Xx

Re: Hidden Poo's!
Callie loved to poop in the dining room in one particular spot, no less. I found it worked best to just not let her in it until she had the pooping outside thing down. If it's a room your pup needs to be in maybe you can somehow block the access to under the furniture?

So you need to be a little quicker Best of luck , it's not theeasiest thing in the world and probably the first thing that gets to people constantly cleaning up

Re: Hidden Poo's!
Hi I had a similiar problem with my girl and still now she is a shy pooper if I am out in the yard with her watching she won't poop until she goes back inside and hides somewhere to do it.. Under my bed or the bottom of my wardrobe.. My yard is secure so now I give her a few minutes outside alone everytime we go out and she does it.. She has never pooed while she has been out on the lead..
