Re: rabbit
Rabbit stew was what I usually had as a kid. Rabbit was so cheap (well, free if you had a terrier!) and easy to get. My Grandad used to get the JRTs out in the fields at the weekend & would come back with half a dozen rabbits. He'd hand out 3 or 4 to friends/neighbours & keep a couple for the pot. My Nan used to skin & gut them & make a stew.
From what I remember, it was very nice!

Crab's nice - you can get some very tasty dressed crab at the seaside. Don't try & clean one yourself because there are parts that can make you very sick.

my grandad used nets and ferrets to get his, and if my nan had annoyed him, he took it out on the bunnies with a shotgun >

Why not get yourself an air rifle and have a word with a local landowner, I'm sure you could bag a brace or two

no!!! unless you are a really good shot you would injure it and it will suffer a very long painful death.

Re: rabbit
It's OK Hayley, a good clean head shot is fine, if you cannot do that you dont shoot it, simples.

Re: rabbit
i was only about 14, my mate took his dad gun he had to see his face i can always remember it
Re: rabbit
rabbit can be a bit dry/tuff so best to make a stew with it, i would recommend you use a slow cooker if you have one just put it on low and leave it all day to cook it will be very tender and just fall off the bones. as for crab the white crab meat is quite nice but the brown meat is so best go for a dressed crab like Caryll said

Re: rabbit
Rabbit is quite tasty. Yummo! Too bad you can't get a bigger boom stick Steve. Makes the shooting even easier.

and crab nice i think better than lobster dave will of heard of this place st marys lighthouse we used to go crabing there when younger in the rock pools we would come home with about 20 8"bodied crabs and sell them round the doors
at todays prices you would be looking ot over £100 worth of crabs and we used to get about £3 between the 3 of us just anough for a large mixup lol

Re: rabbit
Nooooo!
I used to do a full cooked breakfast on a sunday morning....
Sausages
Bacon
Fried Eggs
Hash Browns
Black Pudding
White Pudding
Tomatos
Mushrooms
Fried Bread
Toast
Cup of Tea.
I wouldn't be able to face anything that big now, even if I still ate meat!

Re: rabbit
Irish White Pudding (the best kind) is made of....
Pork Shoulder (with plenty of fat)
Medium Oatmeal
Water
Onion
Potato Flour
Salt
Seasoning (salt, pepper & a mix of herbs/spices)
So it isn't quite as as Black Pudding!
