D Day almost for smoking
Me and the OH have nearly run out of baccy (both over half way through our last pouch) and thats it hopefully no more , refuse to drive to Belgium for lower advised limits and won't risk having my personal; suipplies confiscated. Mrs is packing in the business so less money and think the time is right

Good for you if you can pack it up.
My Dad smoked for about 30 odd years and packed up about 20 years ago, he has stayed off it too. It can be done.
I think you have to want to stop though. Good luck, just think of all the spare cash you will have.

Re: D Day almost for smoking
TBH the cash won't be noticed as for the last 3/4 years we've took a trip to Belgium and bought in bulk so only regularly buying papers and filters, I think I could manage a lot easierr if we were buying tailor mades from the shop between us we'd be on 3 packets a day at about 6/7 pounds a pack we'd have noticed a benefit there

Re: D Day almost for smoking
I enjoy it and can afford it , just despise how much it costs to buy packets of fags or baccy from the shops here and the government have made the guidelines too tight for cross channel shoppers like me due to white van man
In fact when I'm seriously agitated after being off the fags for a few days I'm going to find a baccy baron and punch him in the face

You can do it Dave, I'm sure you will feel better for packing it up, eventually. Why not make a weekly donation to a charity of your choice with the money you have saved. This could be a motivation for staying off them.

Yes this is an issue with packing up the smokes, you do have to keep an eye on the waistline. There had to be a down side to it.

Re: D Day almost for smoking
Dave my last fag was at 6.30pm on the 30th september so i have been smoke free now for 11 days now. Im not gonna lie it has been hard but ive done it with just will power alone and would sugest if ur nervous about giving up getting some gum or patches to help u through the hard bits. I think im just getting to the stage now where i am not craving really badly. I find its the habits that are harder to break ie) kids in bed=coffee and fag, break at work=fag. I was in the same position as u....got backy pretty cheaply and was only spending 14ish quid a month so on it and really actually enjoyed smoking lol. It was my kids that were desparate for me 2 give up.......summer said to me the other day "mummy im so proud that u are not going to die anymore" thats whats made me do it lol

You don't put on weight just because you've given up smoking. Smoking deadens the taste buds so food tastes less appetising. Once you give up, the food tastes better so you eat more. Also, you need something to do other than smoke so you snack.
If you keep to your normal meals & amounts, don't snack just for something to do, you'll be fine.
