My puppy just eat a slug whilst out for the toilet, will this harm him because i heard slugs can carry lung worm larvae. He has had his first jab but not yet his second.

I don't know if there's still a risk with him having the first needle but not second, but just keep a close eye on him the next couple of weeks, or however long it takes before symptoms appear.

Im unsure what treatment he had but he was flead and wormed at the vets. so im sure its the best possible treatment he could have. i have read more info on it and aslong as he has been flead and wormed he should be ok. We will keep a close eye on him. Thanks.

Just give your vet a ring & ask if the wormer you gave him covers lungworm - it should say something about Angiostrongylus vasorum on the packet if it does cover lungworm.

I use Milbemax, but Advocate also covers it.

Milbemax covers lungworm - it just doesn't call it lungworm, it shoudl say on the packet something about Angiostrongylus vasorum.

"Milbemax is indicated for the reduction of the level of infection of Crenosoma vulpis and Angiostrongylus vasorum (according to specific treatment schedule as advised by veterinarian)"

Alot of the wormers cover lung worm they just cant say they do. For the licence they have to have a certain percentage hit rate which i cant remember off top off my head but its quite high. Its all down to wording, did you know alot of your flea treatments cover60 days? Its the ticks that call for a 30 day dose... Marketing ehh Wink

I won't use a spot on flea treatment. Just don't like those harsh chemicals when they're not needed. Sad

Nothing is 100% proof against lungworm, they all reduce the risk of infection.
