It would be a very colourful game of Russian Roulette. Pour salt rings around ten pink slugs and see which one makes strawberry milkshake first. >

At least they aren't poisonous, bitey, stingy or deadly - everything else here is

Lol. Those are such weird looking! I like banana slug hunting when we go to places that have them.

Re: Giant PINK slug found in Australia!
Not photoshopped. Very often, the inhabitants of secluded islands develop and evolve in odd ways to suit their environment. Could be a mimic of a plant colour they favour/favoured or could just be a chemical result of a part of their diet. Same as flamingos - they get their pink colouration from their diet. Most likely camouflage.
There are a lot of strange looking animals in the world.

Yes, true about flamingoes I admit. Just coming after the poo-burgers, the cynic in me kicked in.

Re: Giant PINK slug found in Australia!
Eurgh, that was nasty! I'd rather eat the pink slugs than the poo patties.

Re: Giant PINK slug found in Australia!
If I was pushed to it, I'd agree. Pink slugs all round it is then

Re: Giant PINK slug found in Australia!
I HATE slugs....they gross me out...just cos its pink doesnt make it pretty just a freak of nature!

Re: Giant PINK slug found in Australia!
I wouldn't say it's a freak. Slightly differently evolved perhaps? In a slightly freakish way?

Re: Giant PINK slug found in Australia!
Mind you, some sea slugs are extremely pretty. Still wouldn't eat one though, unless a poo-burger was the only alternative.
Land slugs though, those deathly white ones are the worst

Got to admit I didn't believe it at first, but it's in the Daily Mail so it must be true!

Re: Giant PINK slug found in Australia!
I was wondering about that as well, but apparently it's because they're only found on a very small, remote island. They're also nocturnal, so it would be difficult to see anything in a place like that. Apparently they also camouflage themselves on reddish-coloured leaves.
Or maybe some random is going around with pink food colouring and pouring it on slugs.
