chasing his tail
hi
Billy has just started chasing his tail he does it at least once every half hour and it carries on until I stop it.
Is this normal, is there something wrong with him, do I stop him or just let him carry
on.

Re: chasing his tail
It's normal enough & really funny, but try to stop it if you can. It could turn into a habit & he'll develop OCD. The odd tail chase isn't anything to worry about, but every half hour seems a bit too much!

Couldn't agree more. Deano will do it every now and then when he has his 'mad' moments, but it is only once a week if that and I stop him when he's doing it too.
What sort of stimulation does he get? Kongs? Walks etc?

Re: chasing his tail
just started to walk him as he had just had his jabs, he gets 15 mins mid morning then 15 mins early evening at the moment. We have kongs as well as other toys, do you think he needs more stimulation?

Re: chasing his tail
You could try some basic obedience a couple of times a day. Things like sit, down, stay, paw, high 5 etc. Or try hiding a couple of treats for him to find - that way you'll keep his mind occupied & satisfy his belly too!!

Re: chasing his tail
I would definately give him more stimulations.
Is he fed dry food? If so, use a treat ball so he has to work for his food.
Use this time to do basic training etc - the more he uses his brain, the less likely he will be to tail chase.

Re: chasing his tail
Milly does it sometimes and I thought maybe it is because she is bored so I stop her when she does and get her toy.
