Re: chasing her tail???
To an extent yes, can be a sign of boredom/frustration, so after being kept in kennels could be.
Discourage it offer a toy instead and let River settle in , give it time and enjoy the crazy stages, Xx

Re: chasing her tail???
Janey's right, it'll take her a while to fully settle in. She'll have been bored stiff in kennels & she may have developed the tail chasing to relieve the tension.
Try to discourage it, even if you use treats to get her to pay attention. Just make sure you don't treat her while she's chasing her tail - offer the treat and as soon as she stops chasing, get her to do something nice & easy to get the treat. That way you're treating her for doing what you asked - if that makes sense!
The playing will just be a matter of time & patince. Try to find something that intersts her & then just try & get her to interract with you. Once she settles in & becomes more comfortable with you, she should start to enjoy playing more.

She could just be nervous and trying to settle in. Once you take her for some walks and get the energy out she should settle in.

Re: chasing her tail???
hope the first nights went well with her.... she is a lucky girl to have found a great home...good on you!
she was probably bored out of her brain at the rescue kennels and now the tail chasing has developed in to a bad habit..hopefully you can break the habit.
