Ancol tyres for dogs Empty Ancol tyres for dogs

Following on from an earlier post about tyres as toys, I purchased the large ancol non toxic dog toy tyre - 20cm. At first he loved it - ran all over the garden with it and shaking it. Then decided to have a chew. Within 10 minutes had bitten a lovely chunk out of it. I have wasted so much money trying to find toys he can't destroy. At the moment he has stag bars, extreme kong and bento ball. The kong and bento ball he will only touch when they have food in the. I even bought a kong extreme ball but he managed to bite a bit off that as well (problem is we haven't managed to get him to fetch and return balls yet). Running out of ideas and options now.

That's exactly why I didn't buy the ancol version of the tyre, it didnt look that strong to me. My tire trax survivor will be here soon which is apparantly 'puncture resistant', so i'll let you know how that gets on!

I also just purchased a 8" boomer ball which is meant to be chew proof!

Yes, I've got the boomer ball out in the garden, but he doesn't show a lot of interest in it. If I encourage him he will try and push it around with his nose, but then he will start trying to chew it and I've heard that it can damage their teeth. Problem is he is a 3/12 year old rescue dog, so history unknown.

We use stag bars and kongs for her to chew on. We also get cheap toys like tennis balls or used stuffed animals for her to destroy. We play alot of tug of war with rope toys as well. It helps tire them out but don't leave them alone unsupervised with them.

I have now given up trying to find indestructable toys and have accepted the fact Rocky will chew anything. I now just buy stag bars and chew toys but dont spend too much on the chew toys. Having said that Rocky isn't much of a chewer anyway, he just goes through phases of chewing certain toys.

I don't bother with tyres that are made for dogs toys! they last seconds as the rubber isn't strong enough

Completely agree with you. Hes had that tyre for 10 minutes and hes already starting to take pieces off it.. What a waste of money!!

I'd recommend a stag bar though try can be long lasting depending if they are real power chewers which my two unfortunately so I don't buy them often as they are gone in a week the x large ones

I ordered the goughnut tough toys (ring and stick) yesterday and they arrived today -well quick. He hasn't shown much interest in it yet though, so just waiting to see.
