Callie has a 2 -3 mm little pink bump just above one of her hind paws. It's come up over the last few weeks. Doesn't seem to bother her, but has gotten redder and a little bigger last few days. Had our vet look at it, she thought perhaps a pustule, tried to drain it though got very little, suggested antibiotic cream and follow up in a week or two if no better. Mentioned it to breeder who thought the same.

I of course (thank you Google, haven of neurotic people like myself) am wondering if this is a mast cell tumor. Anyone have any experience with these? I guess common in Staffs but she would be very young for one (6 months). And I suppose no harm in waiting a week to see if it gets better.

Sorry no idea what it could be. You could always seek a second opinion for peace of mind.

Moo had a benine tumour when she was just over a year, and believe me I was petrified, even after being told it was benine. It got slightly bigger and bled a little but disapeared in a matter of weeks, aparently I was told by the vet it was quite commen so if it is this please try not to worry Xx

Can you get a photo of the bump as this may help us ID it?

Have you tried to put some sudocreme on it to see if it has any effect?

Had a little experience with tumours with Bis, lumps vary so much though so don't panic! She had a malignant melanoma removed in January this year. It started off as a little black bump, and grew to the size of a pea within about 6 weeks, it was sort of pink with black speckles and almost shiny! Her second tumour was another small black lump, on her front leg this time that grew quite fast but remained black, this one was benign.

Personally I will never leave a lump again, and have just had a further two small black lumps removed from the same leg that the melanoma was, they're tiny but it's better to be safe. If you're concerned I would push to have it removed if it hasn't disappeared within a fortnight..my vet tried to convince me that the first lump was a cyst, they then got the test results mixed up and told me it was benign, and then realised 2 months later it was actually a grade 6 melanoma! Trust your instincts Smile
