Caley is now 19 weeks and we are thoroughly enjoying her. However, recently she seems to have developed a habit.

when we are out and about and she meets other dogs she goes all submissive around them, the larger dogs she tends to try and jump on them and then quickly flips onto her back, she has a lovely time with them, the problem I have is after 5 or 10 mins playing with them, she then comes to me and starts jumping up and tries nipping me or my biting my clothes or she tries chewing her lead. Nothing I say seems to stop her its like she has switched off. Once we continue walking she is back to behaving again, sits at the road etc basically listens again. I just don't understand why I get pounced on and she won't listen.

At home she has calmed down alot with the nipping and tugging clothes it only seems to happen when she has met other dogs, does anyone know the best way to deal with this.

Thanks for any advice

Sounds like excitement at being with other dogs then coming back to you and forgetting her manners.

Just try turning your back again and ignoring her until she calms down, then ask her to sit then reward.

I agree with Kathy. I bet she'll calm down if you consistently ignore her.

Sheer excitement, she overloads and has difficulty calming down again. She's still very young & she'll improve with maturity. Try not to let her play for too long without a break & that might help stop her complete overload!

Agree with giving her breaks and don't worry I think most of us have gone through this issue.

Kenny was the same, next time she does this, fold your arms and ignore her, as soon as she stops "praise her, it's difficult to ignore her, i know, but it does work. She's just a Excited little puppy and will grow out of it Smile
