My Bella nips us when we least expect it. As she walks past, or when sitting with us... any advice welcome

Re: Behaviour
I've always found that a long, low "Nooooo!" and then turning away does the trick - no contact, no play, nothing. When she stops, then she can get some fuss. All the bull breeds love contact & hate to be ignored, so she'll soon learn that nipping = no attention!
While it's true that pups will nip their siblings in play, and that the other pups will soon put them in their place if it hurts, you don't want her to nip a human being because sooner or later her jaws will be so strong that even a playful nip will really hurt & could be seen as a bite.

Little monkey she is encouraging play like caryll says noooo is good but then you can leave her a minuite and get some toys out and play. The trouble is most pups play this way and although you want to discourage biting and nipping you do want to incourage play and fun. You would be suprised how many dogs in rescue who dont know how to play

Re: Behaviour
Totally discourage it with the way mentioned above (adult teeth hurt!). But Bella's 8 weeks old and in my experience they all do it as a pup! Mine still does it now occasionally, but she will grow out of it with your guidence

Re: Behaviour
The main thing is to understand that she sees nothing wrong with it, so you shouldn't yell at her or tell her off. She'll learn best with consistent training.

Re: Behaviour
I found with Molly, bringing my hand away quickly, and something high pitched worked, even now, she accidently catches my hands, and as soon as I say "Ow" she stops whatever it was she was doing and looks up as if to say "I'm sorry, it was an accident" then she waits for me to carry on playing with her again.

Re: Behaviour
Hi, we found that our two both nipped as pups but as they got older they seemed to realise that nipping was NOT allowed. We used the 'NO!!!' and ignore system and it works well. You have to remember that we have a most stubborn and clever breed here, and if they want attention they will get attention one way or another! Bezial and Qi dont even mouth our hands now. If we put our hands into their mouths accidentally, they become very submissive. They know they are not allowed to 'bite'. It wont take long, remember they are clever dogs
