blue staff keeps trying to hump everything
hi, I have a blue staffy 10 months old, and at the moment he is trying to hump everything in sight. Today after he had his play and he knew he was going back on his lead he would not come back to me which is very unusual for him
No matter what i did he would not come and he was edging nearer to a busy road. I did finaly catch him after a lady opened her front door to let her cat out blue ran in her hall. He isn't aggressive in anyway and luckily the lady was ok about it. has anyone else had this problem can they smell a bitch on heat in the air thats the only thing i can think of why he did not want to come back.

10mths is teenage phase ! He's pushing boundaries, stroppy teenager !
Humping can be a sign of dominance, other here who have more experience with the Humpfest will be along to offer advice, my male is only 20wks lol so I have it all to come no doubt xx

Re: blue staff keeps trying to hump everything
Although an entire male will be interested in the scent of a bitch on heat, they'll rarely just bolt off after it - they usually spend a few minutes sniffing desperately around the last place she peed! That's not to say it wasn't a bitch in heat, but it may not have been.
I think it's more likely that he's in the teenage phase - know everything, listen to nothing & nobody understands him! Just go right back to basics & be firm & consistent with his training. If necessary don't let him off lead unless you are certain that he can't escape - maybe it's time to get a long line, clip it on & let it trail within reach. Then, if he won't listen, you can grab the end of the line & reel him in!

Agree that it is most likely the teenage phase just go back to basics and make sure to enforce the rules.

Seems to be humping week.
I got leg-humped by a spayed bitch today - was quite surprised at that one.
