Hi , i have just been through this with Alfie, if you have managed to get Louie used to wearing collar and lead then it shouldn't be too much of a problem, if you haven't then he may not like it initially. I suggest you start off slowly and keep the walks short ( i didn't even get out of my own front garden fist time), remember its a very different world on the other side of that front door for a puppy. When he does start walking dont stick to the same route, Alfie tends to pull when he realises he is on his way home. I suggest you take him 3 or 4 times a day for short 10 minute walks, untill he gets the hang of it.

Young pups shouldn't be overly exercised. You can do about 5 minutes for every month in age, so about 20 - 25 minutes. And you can do 2 walks per day. But the pups will also let you know when they have had enough... older dogs not so much.

Happy walking Big Grin

Walks on lead should be kept to 5 minutes for each month of age. You can also do off lead play that doesn't factor into the time and walks can be done 2-3 times per day.

Is it 5mins per month for each walk or in total for each day?

At twelve weeks, our pups went for a 20 walk in the evening every day for the first two weeks, then for a 20 minute twice a day for a couple of weeks, then obviously as they get older you add time on and more walks Smile

He's 3 months, so the lead walks should be for 15 minutes, 2 or 3 times a day. However, if you take him to a park & let him off the lead then you can let him run around for a while in addition to the on lead time. Just make sure that he is allowed to lay down & rest if he wants to & doesn't get too tired out for the walk home! Big Grin
