Hi all, i had Alfie for three and a half weeks now, i have studied all of the various topics on dog food and omg what a nightmare knowing if you are doing whats best for your dog. Alfie started on Purina dry food, but i dont think it suited him as he tended to have the runs and i did read that Purina wasn't the best quality, so gradually introduced Arden Grange Puppy Food (still dry) this was better but he never really wolfed it down and would often leave the last bit in the bowl. I wondered if it was too dry as he was drinking lots of water, so i added a small amount of Nature Diet Puppy food (wet) into his dry Arden Grange, which he now wolfs down and never leaves anything.
Is this okay to mix wet and dry or is there something weird about doing this, i have also looked at raw feed but i don't think that the wife would be too happy but i do like the idea of giving him a raw egg ocasionally.
any thoughts.......

I personally don't think there is a problem with it, as long as its not left out for longer than an hour or two and kept in the fridge and thrown away after 2 days.

Hiccup is quite a fussy eater and he started losing weight so I have been adding some wet food to his dry food and he's eating two proper meals a day again.

Not a problem at all to mix wet and dry, Moo used to have it when she was on a controlled diet, (her poo/diareah was hurrendous when I got her). I'd only leave it down for half hour and then throw it though, especially in this muggy weather. As for eggs, Moo gets 2/3 a week, no shells though as I don't think she'd no what to do with it lol I just mix it into her kibble Xx

The exact same thing is happening to me only with Orijen food, he loves it, but sometimes leaves abit. I mixed in a tiny amount of natures harvest wet food and he licked the bowl clean. I am also trying sardines, mashed banana as suggested to me by another member here, and he loves it all. Something different mixed in with the dry maybe once a day makes it less boring and a few diff flavours i think.

No, no problem at all. All I'd say is that if it isn't eaten within about 15 or 20 minutes, it should be thrown away - I wouldn't even refrigerate it. The wet food degenerates really quickly & can lead to stomach problems in pups if it's left down too long.

I don't see any issues either. All of the nutritional needs are met with the dry food and the wet is just for flavour.

This is the exact same diet I am feeding my pup. She loves it and like the others said if it wasn't eaten immediately I would take it away and bin it. x
