cracked nail/claw
doesnt seem to be bothering her, she will let me lightly touch it but if i go to see how far the split is she either pulls her paw away or lays her head on my hand,
i managed to get it back a little way and it seems fairly soft underneath
should i just leave it be?

Re: cracked nail/claw
I've had claws break, but no experience of splitting. Maybe a trip to the vet's nurse would help?

Chance managed to do that with both dew claws in one day he did rip the 'split' bit off but he never seemed bothered so i kept an eye on them and they are fine again now

Re: cracked nail/claw
moo has split her claw on a few occasions, once she was bandaged up for a few weeks, it was over christmas and a real pain!
If I see the start now I clip it myself, and get rid of the excess.
Can you trim it back? If not and its bleeding then all the vet will do is bandage it after triming it back.
So you may as well do it Xx

Re: cracked nail/claw
I would suggest a few walks on the pavement to wear them down a little. I'm sure it will be fine.
Rocky is due to have his claws clipped about now thanks for reminding me. He goes to a training centre thats local that has a grooming room attached. He has two young ladies to fuss over him and he loves it, it is a treat for him too.
