Re: Colour Coded Harness
you can also get them on ebay they do collars as well
i still think owners would ignore the warnings (they do when i tell them so a harness isnt going to make much difference but at least you can say well there is a warning) but overall a good idea

Re: Colour Coded Harness
I've seen those, and the collars.
I think they'll be ignored as well, but very few people will advertise the fact that they have a DA dog.

With most of the dogs that display aggressive behaviour towards Fiver they are off their lead and the owner is miles away. I like the idea of the Friendly one because it will help with parents whose kids are desperate to pat Fiver but the parents are unsure because of the false reputation these mad axe killer have. Fiver just loves everybody and wants a cuddle and can't understand why some people shy away from him

Re: Colour Coded Harness
when Bailey went to meet a dog, both were off lead, and both looked like they were willing to play, the other dogs owner started running after her dog shouting his name. I shouted to her that Bailey was friendly and just wanted to play. We both reached the dogs at the same time, at which point she was hysterical screaming that my dog was attacking hers! She scooped up her dog, and was crying. I was Gob smacked, I was telling her over and over that my dog was friendly and there was no need to get in such a state. I put Bailey back on the lead and walked away, leaving her and her dog traumatized, because she was such an idiot, all the way home Bailey kept looking at me as if to say wtf happened, I just wanted to play! So, I bought the friendly collar, in the hopes that it gives people some indication of his nature, obviously it would not work on someone so stupid as the lady we meet, but as some one else mentioned people with young children are now more happy to let them near Bailey and we have had lots of positive comments about it.

Re: Colour Coded Harness
I think these harnesses are a great idea. I am fortunate in that I live in area where Staffs are tolerated at worst (there are many DA dogs around here, NONE of which are Staffs), and welcomed at best, but the "Friendly" harness would I am sure help a lot where nervous souls who read too many tabloids are concerned. I am seriously considering one.

Hmm - maybe upgrade to "caution"?
On second thoughts I've got a feeling that Joe Public won't understand the colour code, never mind read what's on the harness. What a shame, it could have worked.

I'm looking at getting a green friendly harness for Tank, they are pretty cheap to buy.

Re: Colour Coded Harness
I absolutely love the idea of these harnesses. I remember when Glen came home to tell me to look these fellas up on the AKC. And he was shocked that I told him to simply YES get the pup! he said "Aren't you worried about owning a fighter dog?" I laughed at him. I said babe, c'mon look at the little guys, these are not the vicious dogs that everyone fights, besides. No, I'm not worried because we wont raise our pup that way.
There are sadly a lot of people in our area that think ALL dogs with the word "bull" in their breed name automatically means they are vicious terrors. I disagree.

Re: Colour Coded Harness
That Friendly harness may very well help Tara to dispel any negative feelings your neighbours may have. Plus raising him to maintain the outgoing and "loving everyone" characteristic that Staffs have naturally.
Have you got your pup yet?
