Teenage behaviour?
Ted is nearly 10 months old now. He's always been really clingy with us, especially me, he follows us everywhere (even to the toilet ) and he's always slept in his bed beside ours.
The past week or so he's been acting really odd. When it's time for bed and he would usually run upstairs ahead of us.. he won't come upstairs, he goes and lays in his cage. After trying to encourage him upstairs we decided to just leave him there with all doors open and let him please his self. He now stays there all night and comes up to greet us in a morning. He's started to do his own thing in the day too.. when we are watching tele he'll take his self off upstairs and go to sleep.
Im just wondering is it his age and he's just wanting a little space?
Sort of like a teenager lol. Just seems weird for him.

Re: Teenage behaviour?
He's growing up & becoming a bit more confident. As long as he's still his happy, lively self, don't worry about it!

Re: Teenage behaviour?
I would take it as a good sign. It seems like he is becoming more confident in himself and comfortable with being alone which is a good thing

Sounds like he is just growing up and gaining trust in you and himself, a good sign

Re: Teenage behaviour?
Ohh thats good, thats what I hoped it'd be.
Seems so strange going from watching his every move (i.e. chewing, nipping, weeing..) to just having a chilled out dog

Re: Teenage behaviour?
Some get there earlier than others - Dempsey started calming down a bit when he was about 2 years old (he didn't need to get any more confident! ), and I think he's just about got there now he's 3!

Tilly's gone calm and even more so over the last couple of weeks since we've had Tommy , until it comes to the garden and her toys , which she sees as her land and posessions, but we are working well on this

I knew Tyson was begining to mature when I realised a few weeks ago that I could leave my shoes on the floor for longer than 30 seconds!

Re: Teenage behaviour?
Heston is definitely going through this too. He had a testosterone surge around 6 weeks ago, he learnt to * his leg and became interested in female scents in just a week. He also stopped napping right next to us in the evening and started reverted to sleeping in his own bed. Glad someone else is going through this, as although it is a proud moment to see them growing up I do miss the extra cuddles in the evening!!!

Re: Teenage behaviour?
Ahhh so he is the same.
Yeah he's also just become interested in female scents. We used to complain about his terrible snoring and now it's SILENT in our bedroom and his beds empty! He'll be moving out next hehe
