Zac got attacked
We were walking up the park today and Zac was on his extendable lead and this Yorkie (also on an extendable lead) pulled away from its owner so she accidentally dropped the lead and it raced over to Zac and started attacking him. Growling and biting his face and neck. Zac did defend himself but I really think he thought it was a game as he didnt bite the other dog back very hard.
We got them separated and the other owner said 'sorry the lead dropped, is he ok'? She smacked her bitch on the snout and told it 'no' and that was that!
I did examine Zac throughly and he was none the worse for it. I didnt kick off too badly because it was on a lead and its not like she had let it roam free, also Zac wasnt hurt. However, Im wondering if blood was drawn and if he had fought back and injured her dog would I have been liable in any way?
I think I was more shook up than Zac. I was fussing him and checking for marks and he was looking at me as if to say 'aww mum Im ok, leave me alone, you are embarrassing me!!'

I know Steve! This only other time a dog nearly went for him was a Yorkie again!! They were saying hi as dogs do and this yorkie growled and lunged for him. The owner blamed Zacs staffy collar saying it spooked his dog ha ha! Couldnt make it up if you tried.

Glad he is ok, and im glad the owner didn't start a big yap about staffies being vicious and they realised they were wrong!
If your boy had ripped that little ball of fluff and bones up then you wouldn't be liable persay but its likely your dog would be asked to be muzzled in public.

I would have kicked off if she had! the only reason I didn't was because Zac wasn't hurt.

Re: Zac got attacked
Good on Zac for holding his cool. Probably nothing compared to staffy play anyhow. Its the owners like that though... hitting your dog on the snout is just not going to be good. No wonder the Yorkie was crazy.

Thank you. Yeah I'm thinking it would have prob been different with another breed of dog or even another staffy. I'm sure Zac thought it was play because he didn't bite back hard x
Anyway off on a walk now so hopefully will pass without incident
