Best age for a staffie
We adopted our girl from a rescue home almost 12 months ago and they believe she was about two years old then, so we missed the whole puppy stage. She is now about three years old and it feels like she has settled and come out of the adolescent phase, so we are at a good point where she is young and strong but also sensible and balanced in nature.
When we first got Bailey there was a tendency for some other dogs to try and be dominant or aggressive with her and I think they could sense she was still quite young but I am glad to say that seems to have completely stopped now and they treat her with more respect. I had a similar experience many years ago with a bulldog who was often picked on until he was just over two years old and then never again as he matured.
For those who have owned staffords for many years I am just curious to know if there has been any particular stage that you enjoyed more than others and how they have changed over the years? There is a lovely old boy I know who is 14 and he is very slow now but still looks surprisingly well.

What are they like as puppies? I am curious to know how they behave. I've had puppies from other breeds but never a stafford.

i think they are like any other breed, they can really test you at times but love you other times.. i love to see them grow their own personality, my xena just want to make friends with everyone who walk through the door, billie was bit more fussy with new people and sam used to be an little bit of both.

Yes, they're very similar to other breed's puppies, but perhaps a little more robust! Tend to be full of fun & mischief!
