GSD owner
Took Dempsey for his walk this morning, quite early cause I had to get to work earlier than usual, so it was about 6.45am when I got over the park.
Now, there was nobody around, so after a good look I let him off the lead. Unfortunately my dog-radar-sense let me down & a lady was about 100 yards away with a GSD pup, around 6 or 7 months old, I'd say.
Bearing in mind I'd never seen her before & she'd never seen me or Dempsey, I was surprised when she just let her pup come racing over. It happened so quickly that I couldn't put Dempsey back on lead, so I crossed my fingers. All was fine & they played for about 5 minutes, the woman never attempting to call her dog or even come near us. After a while I decided enough was enough, & I'd need to carry on with the alk or I'd end up late for work, so I yelled 'stay' to Dempsey & he did (shock!). Just I got to him to put his lead on the pup pounced again & they were off playing again. This happened 2 or 3 times & the woman never moved!
I called out (very nicely) to ask her to call her dog away as I needed to carry on.
The answer? "They're playing".............doh, I could see that!
Asked again, explaining that I had to get going. Answer? "They're getting their exercise".
OK, I'm getting a bit needled now - time was passing & I needed to get on. So, I told her to take the pup away as I needed to get going - she called me a miserable b***h who shouldn't be in charge of a dog.
Got a bit upset this time & told her in no uncertain terms to take the bl***y pup away. Well, to cut a long story short, she eventually did & we carried on. Later on the walk we crossed paths again & I tried to explain to her why I was unhappy - letting her young pup approach a strange dog / not calling it away when asked.
She said that as my dog was off lead, it was obvious that I wanted him to play with any other dog around & to f**k off!!!!
Now, you're all wondering what I called her, aren't you?
You're wrong - I took a deep breath, told her I thought she was quite a horrid woman (in those words) and Merry Christmas!
Didn't I do well??
