New owner
Hi we picked up 4 month old Max off one of the many Facebook groups, after he was put up for re-homing.
We were told he is clean in his crate and house trained.
He does go to the toilet outside but still wee's a lot indoors and in his crate.
He also nips a lot.
We also got given a box of Bakers Complete for him, which we feel is the wrong food.
He was re homed before we got him, but the lady who had him didn't want him after 1 night.
We have given him a loving home and want him to integrate as one of the family.
We are however not 100 % sure he is a full staffy.
I have joined this forum mainly to get help with questions and advice off people who know what they are talking about and not just "this is what we did" advice.
I look forward to interacting with you all, and apologies in advance for the amount of questions i'll be asking!
He also came with nothing, no blanket toys anything, so everything he has we have bought him, crate, lead, collar, toys etc.
Thanks for Reading!
Dave.

Re: New owner
It's absolutely fine here Dave. From the pics it looks like Max is a typical young Staffy. In truth, you won't really get a good idea if there is a mix untill he matures but I have to say, he looks great

Re: New owner
Hi, thanks for all your replys.
So Max went to the Vets for his injections. Is it normal for your pup to go quite after having them?
We got a puppy pack for him, it was £60 and we got both his injections, microchip flea and worm treatment and 4 weeks free insurance for him.
Vets also advised dry kernels for food so i picked some of that up whilst i was there.
Vet said he is definitely Staffy but thinks there could be Border Collie in there somewere as well.

Re: New owner
They can get a little fazed by the jabs but should be fine within 24hrs or so Dave. Sounds like you got a pretty good deal there with all that thrown in.
As for insurance, they offer the freebie to get you to sign up going forward. Nothing wrong with that but do look at some of the threads in the insurance section lower down on the main forum page, you'll get some good experienced advice from those threads.

Yes he seems fine this morning, after a good nights sleep.
Even the Vets told me to shop around for insurance, which we will be doing. Car insurance is due so maybe i can get a deal.

Re: New owner
Hi and welcome to the forum from me and the zoo xx
Congrats on the rescue - kudos to you!!!
Patience is the main factor for toilet training. As for the nipping I found the best way is to make a high pitched loud sound whenever they do it, it tends to make them stop and think about it but it needs to be a noise they don't like x

Re: New owner
Hello and welcome and well done. Max looks stunning. I am not very good with puppy stage on staffies.
The nipping, yes I agree too, make a noise they dont like. No shouting, you will have lost them then. I also use to pick up a toy close by and put in her mouth, after saying no biting on my arms, to saying with toy in mouth, biting yes. They clever dogs, and pick up what you say quickly.
This is just my option, I tend not to listen to vets regarding food! Just listen to your puppy and see if they like it or not. I went through a few changes, so tend to buy small packets of food to try. We finally ended up on wainwrights trays and human food. Theres a good list of food on here somewhere for both puppys and adults dogs. Bakers are rubbish as you know.

Re: New owner
Thankyou for the all the kind welcomes, we've had Max 11 days now, he's settled in really well.
He's house trained now, apart from the occasional excited wee when he meets someone new lol.
He isn't nipping as much now, but still does.
He had his first course of Injections Thursday, and is due his second lot and microchipping next Thursday.
He is on a dry husk food from the vets its £10 a bag.
The vet did mention a few other names that were top quality, but i can't for the life of me remember what they were, one sounded like James Hall and the other i didn't catch.
Anyone have an idea of what the names are?
I want to keep him on dried as tins are like 80% water aren't they?
Thanks.

Welcome from me and Rio! He looks like a lovely boy I have issues with Rio nipping when he gets excited, but like everyone said, folding your arms, turning away and ignoring him works a treat, staffies HATE being ignored so it's quite effective
