Staffy Harness
I need to get Pixee a new Harness, as she has outgrown the blue cross one. Advice needed please on best one, I want one that doesnt get under her arms, the blue cross one did, and it did make her a bit sore, so we just used her collar and lead. But as we all know, they are strong, and I worry about choking her. Of course the colour needs to be deep pink, if I can get that colour or purple. And soon I will have some photos up of her, as we have been away up Eden Valley, where loads and I mean loads of walking was done, boy she loved every min of it, and plenty photos too. Thanks all

Re: Staffy Harness
Have a look in the tried and tested section there may be others there that members have recommended. I could recommend the harness below, not sure what other colours they do, we have black with white paw prints and bones on for Rocky:

Re: Staffy Harness
if you want a none rubbing type have a look at dog games they are nice and soft and you can size them to your dog and get extra bigger parts so you dont waste money on a complete new one

Re: Staffy Harness
I went through the back legs rubbing thing.
The best harness I found was the Julius K9 - Original

You can get them on Ebay in the UK and USA.

Get a harness, by all means, but as long as your dog is trained to walk properly on lead you shouldn't need to choke her anyway!
I don't use harnesses myself because I just don't have enough control over the head & those nice, shiny white teeth!

Re: Staffy Harness
Ive gone from using harmesses to just using collars because Skye's harness kept slipping when playing and buster grew out of his
They both only pull when someone says hello but other than that walk nicely so with training it doesn't seem to matter what they walk on
As caryll says you do seem to have a bit more control on the sharp end

Re: Staffy Harness
Pixee does walk lovely on the lead, ever does the heel walk too lovely. Her only problem is, when a stranger looks threating, she will pull, and no matter what I say, she wont stop, plus some dogs will set her off if she is taken by suprise, then she will do the pulling thing again, which is what I meant bout worrying about choking her. She is getting better all the time, but she is also getting stronger too. I am doing it for her. We do tell her off when she does the pulling and barking stuff. Thanks for all the links, I will be checking them all out.

Re: Staffy Harness
The thing to remember is that a harness won't stop her from behaving in that way. Only training will do that. If you're buying a harness just to stop her pulling, it won't work - in fact it'll have the opposite effect because it'll be easier for her to pull!

Re: Staffy Harness
i find a harness better for control as you can use the harness to take weight off the front legs which stops the pulling and also i feel iv got more control of the head end as i can more more responsive with out the jumping and trashing about but thats just me each to there own

Tilly has an Ezydog harness see what you think , she is very comfortable in hers

Re: Staffy Harness
Thank you for those pictures. Tilly does look very comfortable in her harness. I love the look and colour of it. In fact I have been in two minds about this one or the dog games one. (Also consisting the ancol one)
And I have to agree with bigwazza, you do have more control over the pulling in a harness as I have found and less worry about hurting their necks and how much to pull them back without hurting them more. It does take the weight off the front legs. True training alone will do the trick, but I cant take the risk anymore with strangers and Pixee or dogs taking her by suprise, ever thou she is so much better now while waiting for the training to take effect.
Will let you know which one we go for. Thank you all for the advice
