My staffy book said you use clippers in their tails to make them slick, and also brushing velvet over their costs gives them a really good sheen, not sure about the whisker trimming though!!

Maybe make sure his teeth are nice and clean too!!

Good luck. as said the tail hairs get trimmed and the whiskers too but i dont think this is necessary and i dont think you loose points if you DONT do it. make sure his paws are 100% clean and he has no dandruff and his ears have no dirt in them at all, and take any eye bogies away lol

What bit of the tail do you trim? The end bit, or the underneath or all over?

The underneath part where all the hairs tend to stick out more. this is mostly near the tip of the tail and sometimes there is a little tuft of hair at the tip of the tail which should be trimmed

it doesnt HURT them trimming the whiskers but they can feel them being touched, it would only hurt if they were plucked out. Much like your own eyelashes say, you can feel them but scissoring them wouldnt hurt.

When im preparing for a show i would wash al about 3 days before show and on the day of show keep wiping him with baby wipes and put coat conditioner on the coat to make it shine, also rubbing tights over the coat helps. Also brushing and thinning the coat if its think. For the tail trim the bottom and underneath the tail. Hope this helps Smile
