Shocked lol
Well had a email from a really nice guy I met with 2 staffies,me and Scarlett meets on our daily walks. Me and Ian as he is called has emailed me asking when Scarlett is older if I would mind her doing one litter with one of his boys! He said he's asked me now so I have awhile to think about it and tbh it has crossed my mind as a lot of friends have been asking if she does have a litter could they have one but yet I know there are so many rescue staffies out there that need homes a hell of a lot to think about but I am shocked he requested Scarlett lol
Re: Shocked lol
So many things to consider.
*Obviously the rescue aspect, as you've said;
*Is she registered with the KC?
*Is she a good example of the breed - will a litter from her benefit the breed?
*Are the guy's dogs registered with the KC?
*Is he a good example of the breed - will a litter from him benefit the breed?
*Will they both be health tested re: genetic problem specific to the breed?
*Do have enough funds to cover not just the pregnancy, birth & rearing of possibly up to 10 pups, but also for emergency treatment (ie caesarian if necessary), initial worming & feeding?
*Do you have firm offers of homes for possibly 10 pups?
If the answer to any of the above is no, then please don't consider it.

it's quite a lot to take on board the first time someone asks about breeding your dog, we've always said we'll think about it, then hope we never see them again. but with a female it's time, vet's and extra food costs to consider. personally i'd leave it unless you could guarantee 110% the pups would have a good permanent and educated(staffy educated)home to go to

Re: Shocked lol
Yes certainly lots to think about there.
Can you afford all the implications of a mating then a litter of pups until they are at least 8 weeks old?
Do you have the space for it all?
Many many questions to answer they were just the first two that came to my mind.
I'm sure someone else more qualified to answer will be along shortly.
See what I mean

Re: Shocked lol
I've had about a dozen offers to use Dempsey as a stud & I've refused every one of them - he isn't good enough to better the breed, and there are enough serious & responsible breeders producing pups without adding to the equasion. There are also far too many irresponsible bybs! (That isn't a dig at you, by the way!)
Just thought of something else.... would you be able to take back a pup/young adult/adult you have bred if the people who bought it don't want it/can't look after it any more?

Re: Shocked lol
I know his boys are kc registered and their father and son Ian owned the fathers mother and has her papers, Scarlett's kc registered so is her mummy and daddy, moving into a bigger house in a few months that's no problem, Scarlett's got vet insurance, it's just I don't think I could see her in pain. It must be offal for poor doggies! Yeah Caryll I could say yes to all of the question but it's a case of who gets them an how responsible they are! I've had to be very very strict with Scarlett but its paying off in good ways just don't think some of my friends have what it takes to be truthful as it is hard work!
Re: Shocked lol
No No No! Why would you, just cause they are kc registered!
Open your eyes to the bigger picture!

Re: Shocked lol
So why the hell would you want to breed?
Leave that to people who know what they are doing!

Re: Shocked lol
I didn't say I was doing it. I just got offered I was just answering carylls questions. I hall say no more about it. I didn't know I would offend sorry.
Re: Shocked lol
3 out of every 10 Staffy pups wont live to see its 1st birthday. 45% of the rest wont reach their 3rd birthday. In the UK one dog every minute is put to sleep and over 90% are Staffies or Staffy cross puppies. If you breed Staffies still knowing this, you have blood on your hands. Its disgraceful & you should work in a pound for a week and watch them all being put to sleep!

Re: Shocked lol
Can someone close this thread please I seemed too have annoyed a few people when I was only telling its not like I said I'm doing it I just wanted to tell and I clearly see tht a few people are taking this the wrong way and making it out like I'm doing this and that's it....
Re: Shocked lol
And sully I dare see another dog put down seen 2 put down I dearly loved that's very unfair to say...
Re: Shocked lol
PLEASE remember this post was for a theoretical breeding, not a definite breeding and i'm sure that imjc90 will and already has given this a lot of thought so please lay off the bashing
