No more walks today
I am sat here with my left ankle strapped, raised and ice packed and certainly will not be taking Tyson for his evening walk. It all started after our morning walk. I had just come out of the shower when his lordship decided to have one of his dizzy sessions. He tore through the bedroom, sprang onto the bed and hurtled out with the cable remote clenched firmly in his mouth. Needless to say we had the usual dance to get him to drop it but alas too late.
I had no choice but to head through to the electronics store (after an appointment with a new client). I rush in and grab two (one spare) and on my wayout I dont see the step down from the curb and down I go. Both ankles wacked outward and the pain was excruciating. A salesman helped me to my car and with due care I managed to use the clutch and drive home. It was ok as long as I kept it straight. Dropped by the clinic attached to the pharmacy and they strapped it up. They gave me a crutch but I gave that a miss after a few hobbles. Now dosed with Cataflam and Tyson is lying next to me being sooo sweet. I just hope that I have not done any serious damage and that it is better in the morning.

Oh my Lynne! I hope they heal quickly. Ouch! Sometimes it is the smallest thing to remind us how greatful we need to be when everything is working with our bodies. Both ankles is pretty dibilitating!

Re: No more walks today
Thanks everyone. The right one is not too bad. At least I can put weight on it. I always think of elephants. if they cant walk, they die. I really have no-one to rely on but myself so I cannot be out of action for too long. Besides, Tyson needs his excercise. I might be able to wave some extra bucks under the nose of the gardener tomorrow to take him but after that ............?

Ooooo Lynne that made my eyes water. Try to rest as much as you can, I know easier said than done.
A stiff drink and early night I think.

Oh dear! Staffies. Who would even bother. lol
I saw a schnauzer go past today and i though "they have no character...theyre boring and bland...staffies have so much personality." this proves it!

Re: No more walks today
If the injury isn't serious alternate heat and ice. Ice will prevent swelling and the heat will encourage blood flow into the area. Most of the times if you do this for a couple of days things are much better

Re: No more walks today
A quick update: It is feeling much better today so I am sure I have not doe any real damage. Strapped up real good and squeezed on my trainers. Going to take a slow walk down to the shops so fingers crossed.
Oh - I didnt realise that today is a public holiday here so no work. When you work for yourself you dont really take note of these things.

Re: No more walks today
Had a brainwave and walked Ty with his backpack, the theory being that he would walk slower and with double the effort. It seems it worked as after about 15 minutes he did his dead dog impersonation.
Feel better now that I made the attempt. Ankle held up but I will not be testing it again today.
