Vomitting and diarrhea?
My dog jasper has been throwing up on the odd occasion for the past week, his poo seems pretty normal untill my sister told me today that he had some diarrhea.
I can't really work out whats causing this all i can think of is that sometimes he sneakly nicks some of faiths puppy food cause this be causing it? Im really worried but his normal self is normal and active as ever hes got a cold nose and hasn't changed character wise.
Could anyone help me with this? I am really worried.
Thank you

Re: Vomitting and diarrhea?
it happens sometimes, so don't worry too much. if jasper is otherwise normal. sometimes dogs vomit. if it continues, along with the diarrhea, for more than a day or so then maybe call the vet and ask. jasper may well have got hold of the puppy food, but that shouldn't cause long term issues. simple upset tummy most likely.

Agree with Matt that I wouldn't worry unless it continued for more than 48 hours or there was a very large amount of either problem or even a huge shift in activeness and alertness. It happens sometimes and usually is right as rain soon after.

Re: Vomitting and diarrhea?
Is there any pattern to the throwing up? Is it just after his food, for example?
The puppy food shouldn't make too much difference - it might give him a bit of a runny tum, but shouldn't make him sick.
Have you tried starving him for 24 hours to give his stomach a rest?

Re: Vomitting and diarrhea?
I havent tried starving him, although if this carrys on then i will. I haven't noticed any pattern cause i haven't seen him throw up ive found found vomit and my sisters caught him once but she said it was mid afternoon soh he hadn't eaten since the morning.
He seems ok most of the time so im hoping it's nothing its just a bit weird how its not everday but every now and then.
Thanks

Re: Vomitting and diarrhea?
Just give water for 24hours If the dog is his normal self.
Then give boiled chicken and rice.
Little portions to start off with then gradually increase in size if he keeps his food down.
All in all this should take about 2-3 days and should have him right as rain.
If the dog becomes Lethargic take him to the vets straight away.
