Soft poop Empty Soft poop

Post by mrsxg Tue Feb 21 2012, 19:52

Hiya, typical of Lola, just as I posted about her food and poop being fab, she's started having VERY soft poop, nearly diarrheoa like?? She's not eaten anything out of the ordinary.
Just her dry food, her treats and bone...

Any suggestions??

we used to have a jr that used to get runny poo if he got scared. has she been drinking more water than usual or been spooked by something?

Her first poop of the day is fab, lovely and firm but as the day goes on they get softer and softer.
She'll poo 3-4 times a day and in the afternoon/evening/night the first part will be ok then the rest very soft :/

if she seems fine in her self it might be the new diet is digesting at a faster rate and contains less bulk fillers that absorb liquids and over the course of the day her poo just contains more liquid.sorry to ask but is she up to date on her worming?. other wise i'd contact your vet and ask they're advice

Soft poop Empty Re: Soft poop

** Bump **

Any progress on this?

Was going to start a new thread, but thought i'd search 'poop' first Smile

Gabbi is 3 1/2 months and on James Wellbeloved complete puppy kibble - food is split 1/3 @ 08.30ish , 1/3 @ 12.30ish and 1/3 @ 16.30ish

She normally poo's straight after breakfast, 2 or 3 nice firm chunky ones (may as well be graphic as we are talking 'poop' afterall)

However, for the rest of the day her poo's get more runny as we go on - she will normally goes afternoon say 2ish, evening say 7ish - this is normally the loosest, then overnight (I put her out around 2am) - is there a logical reason for this? Is it just the fact that she drinks a lot of water during the day??

Advice please.

Hi DJ, just want to say I went through the same with Moo on JWB.

I'm not going to slate JWB it was a god send when I real issues with Moo, but yes her poo started off solid and then got generally worse throughout the day.

I didn't think a lot of it because at least she was making it outside (thats another story), but she went off it after a year so I swapped her over to Fish 4 Dogs and her poo near enough instantly became solid all day!

Maybe try swapping, worked for me and I it wasn't even why I did it!!

Hi Janey, thanks, I only went with JWB as it was what she was already being fed by the RSPCA.

I've just gone and bought a 15kg bag so will stick with that for the next 2 months and see how we go, I'm sure it's the water consumption that does it (possibly combined with the JWB food as you say)... picking up sloppy poop isn't the most pleasant experience though so I may have to try something different soon Laughing

Hiya all Smile Yeah Lola was on harringtons turkey then was changed onto the salmon one and now she's on the lamb varient and her poop is fab!
unless she's fed something she shouldnt have or eaten something when were out!

The vet said that the softer poop as the day goes on its due to the water consumption Smile Hope this helps!
