flexi lead. yay or nay?
First topic message reminder :
I brought Romeo a flexi lead the other day. he loves it, and so do it because it makes perfect for training his recall, which has been getting worse lately.
But what do you guys think. Romeo has a harness and collars, and now normal leads, one 2m and one 1m and now this flexi lead.
Its great to let him wander without worrying about him racing off where he should not go, or when he needs to get his butt back at my side I guess i am lucky Romeo is really senstive to movment on the lead, i'd hate to see what happened if he just didnt care and raced for the hills with all that power behind his shoulders.

Thats the one I use, but with a secondary line so the brake mechanism dosent take the load when reeled right in and control is needed
we have this one for ours. we have the same for both dogs even though theres a size and weight difference. It is the maximum hold one we have so it gives me more peace of mind better to be safe. I think the maximum strength one could hold a pony i know it would hold a big dog

I do have one but have not really used it as before Tyson would have been constantly pulling. Now his walk is sorted perhaps I should try it again. It is a little more practical than carting the long line 5m lead for practicing recall. I tend to get totally wrapped up and twisted in it.

Not sure if anyone has mentioned this (didn't have time to read all posts thoroughly)
But we did buy Dora a flexi lead and we used it on the run up to Christmas and little after. We like it and so did she, however I think it encouraged her to pull on the lead as with a flexi lead there is always tension on it.
We have stopped using it now as we are trying to teach her not to pull on the lead.

Another reason I don't like Flexi leads is I don't think they look very nice and match anything. I like Romeos collars and leads to match

I think flexi leads are great ideas. When we first got Millie and she didnt really know us we used one on long walks always. However, nowI just take her normal one because there isnt a main road near me so she is let off.
